That thing is THICK! The lug to lug at 61mm is actually suitable for my 8.5” wrist which is wider than it is round, but the thickness is why I passed at 34K… still, having a bracelet watch AND a Rolex makes it so appealing!

Getting a good fit might make a huge difference. It looks bigger in that pic because it isn’t sitting right.

I have TINY wrists but my 40mm Planet Ocean looks fine, even with the thickness because we worked a while getting just the right fit. Sometimes just reversing the clasp makes a big difference!

You'll get used to the thickness in no time. I've been wearing mine for a few months now, but not banged it into anything yet, although I'm generally "wrist aware" for all of my watches.

My wrist is thinner than yours, so there's a bit of lug overhang. But once it's properly fitted for your wrist, it'll be very comfortable to wear. I enjoy mine immensely, so strongly recommend it!

Great for taking on picnics if you forget your plate.

The DSC is an epic time piece !

I believe the reason you are not seeing many DSC’s around is because Rolex simply can’t get them out the door fast enough.

Apart from the actual ‘tank-like’ construction of the watch, the process is further slowed down by the pressure testing process.

Apparently Rolex teamed up with Comox again to construct something called a UHP (Ultra High Pressure) chamber. This chamber presses the DSC down to the equivalent of 45,112ft, that’s 125% of the 36,090ft advertised on the DSC dial.

This UHP chamber takes about 3:20hrs to test 20 watches at a time - wayyyy slower that the process used for Rolex’s other professional offerings.

As for the demand for these watches - several Greys are close to triple the AD’s MSRP.

If you can find an AD that has a DSC, and will actually sell it to you - jump on it.

‘Nuff said.

Check out the James Cameron DSSD before you buy anything. $10 says it's the one you end up with

you may very well be right! Looks like he did see it in person at the Timepiece Gentleman Shop.

The 50mm looks nuts IMO haha, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

OP I do agree make sure its the one you want and DEFINITELY check out the DSSD Blue. You should be able to try it on at any AD>

Tried on a DSD yesterday. Looks great, but for me it’s too thick.

Make a “James Cameron” SD43 and I’m all in

What strap is that on the "regular, small" DeepSea? Looks like it might be on the clasp, not a tang buckle?

Well it could be that, or it could be because it's an unbelievably niche watch that really only suits people with 9-10 inch wrists (no matter what various owners may like to think).

But YMMV, each to their own, etc.

It won't take up to 3 months if you can get your name on the wait list with 4 ADs.

Hold out for one from AD secondary price not going anywhere soon. And at 6’8” and 270 lbs who’s gonna tell you it don’t look good on your wrist!

The AD can sell any watch to anyone they like. They could give it away if they wanted to, although I wouldn't hold your breath on that happening!

Here in LA, Geary’s is the AD, and they have a handful of locations within a 20 min. drive, can I put in a request with all of the locations or will they only count as 1?

If you ever visit Hawaii email the Waikiki Rolex AD let them know your dates of your visit and your interest, This is a high volume Rolex boutique catering to tourist. Very few men can pull the watch off. Sales tax is 4.75 here in Honolulu pays for your airfare compared to CA sales tax.

Any AD with one sitting in the safe should be smart enough to offer it to you if you show interest.

I am a large mammal and owned a DSSD JC for a year--just too thick for me and I didn't like the dial. A few months ago I purchased a SD43--love it! I have moved to the larger Rolex models: SD43, Sky-Dweller and Polar Explorer II. My BLRO will always be my favorite watch due to my aviation background but 40mm now seems so small compared to the larger Rolex.

Yeah, this 1 Challenge per dealer seems to be the policy, at least for now. I asked my AD, and so far Alberta got 2. The dealer in Edmonton got 1 and the dealer in Calgary also got 1.

I'm sure more will trickle in with time, but for now, supply seems low.

I like big watches but this watch is cartoonish on anyone unless you are the size of Andre the Giant . R.I.P.
