Sure, good question actually. The strap has been a long journey. After acquiring a WG Daytona on Oysterflex last year I realized how much I liked the feel and look of a non bracelet watch. I also had continued to connect with Daytona’s and decided to cull down the collection and move to some PM pieces. I had been searching for the the 116518 with the gold Paul Newman dial and bingo DSW had one that I was able to see in person while on a business trip. It came with a brown croc strap that he switched to black for me.

Being in the watch OCD category I am really like the look of a padded strap vs the flatter croc strap DSW had sourced. The flat strap labeled ASTD which is for standard size fits me well. For some reason the padded croc straps are sized differently with the 6 o’clock side and noon side being different lengths than the flat strap, one side is much longer and the other side is shorter. Net result is an uncomfortable fit for me. This is after 3 trips to RSC in Beverly Hills and a few trips to the Boutique.very odd. They don’t sell individual piece like they do on the Oysterflex. I may go with a custom made non OEM strap or just stay with the flat strap that is on the watch now in the picture.

All this effort did put me in the Boutique at the right time to get the new GMT II.
Thx.

Oooo, thank you verrry much for this information. I didn't know there might be this sort-of complication. I'll bring it up with the AD.

And why do left handed people buy right handed watches...? Or why buy mechanical watches in general these days?
