850 every 10 years is about 7 bucks a month. Drink one less Starbucks a month and you’ll be able to afford servicing your $15k watch. Sacrifice you’ll have to make as a Rolex owner.

On my Sub full service at SSC Ormond Beach,Florida with new Crystal and new Black Bezel and Crown and Tube replaced and pin and tube for band..complete polish to factory new look $1145 and after 17 yrs…$67 per year. $5.50 per month..That’s how I look at it..

Just got back a DJ bluesy TT from RSC service, replaced dial, hands, crystal and crown, no polish. $1250 plus tax. Got back from RSC an AK 14000 two months ago, new crystal and crown + polish, $825 plus tax.

One year ago I sent my 22 year old 16710 to the NYC RSC in Long Island City. Complete service was $750 including "refinish bracelet and case." Shipping was an additional $60.

Had a Daytona SS serviced last year for $700 (full service and replaced both pushers and crown. Also new crystal.

Just picked up my 36mm 118206 Platinum Day Date with Portuguese Day wheel....full service, new crystal, new crown and extra attention to bracelet (had some kinks in it and clasp came easily undone)....$2,500 all in.

Fingers crossed that a new no date sub will be arriving shortly. If so, $9,100 plus tax and the $2,500....equals roughly buying grey for the 124060 and DD serviced.....fun hobby

Us small independent watchmakers have a hard enough time finding replacement parts, I had to send my own 20 year Explorer II back to Rolex.

I get that this is largely a joke thread, but the cost of service (especially on some of non-Rolex brands like ALS, Patek, RM are higher and more frequent) make me wonder about those with 20 nice watches. Do those folks spend $10k/year on servicing their watches, not to mention insurance for all of those?

Easy enough for Chewbacca, who can just reduce salary for 50 of his staff by $1,000 each and easily pay for service and insurance. But for the rest of us, it's real money!

Just reading this and want to share my recent experience. The issue was caused when a pin must have come loose and fell out. the watch just slid off my wrist and hit the marble floor. I was just blown away at how that could have happened - but it did.

As it had never been serviced, (2014 model) I wanted a ROLEX overhaul. Watch was back in under 8 weeks. Pristine - polished and all. $1,740 with all repairs - but the basic service is now $1,250.00

Reminds me what my salesman told me at the dealership, if you can’t afford the high cost of maintaining it, then you have no business owning one.

First of all, in my opinion, the luxury life is not that you can buy an expensive thing, but that you are able to maintain it with the manufacturer.

Second, Rolex prices are quite low compared to the holy trinity's costs... and compared to some almost the same level competitors' maintenance costs.

Third, Rolex expects even those who are much poorer than you to buy another even if their watch only gets dirty. Fix it? It's only for such losers who can't afford a new watch.
