Can someone explain to me this crazy demand for Pepsi's? I mean, its a nice watch, GMT is a great daily, but people seem to go nuts over the Pepsi.
Is it because it was the original GMT? Is is the red and blue? Personally I think the Rootbeer is far more special and the Batman's color combo is preferable. I would rank Rootbeer > Batman > Pepsi Nothing against the Pepsi - like I said its a very nice watch, I just never understood the crazy level of demand it generates versus other Rolex sports models. |

Same as white dial daytona. Just hype and historical value/auctions. If Paul Newman wore a 2-tone MOP dial Daytona those would be the collectible ones. The Pepsi is just an old design with good value retention and got caught up in the hype train past few years and snowballed. They're coming back down to earth though.
I personally didn't like that they couldn't get the red/blue colors correct on it. I also don't like red watches as well.

In my case, it was 18 months of buying other stainless steel watches first. A mix of some Omegas and a lower-tier Rolex.

Probably because it's difficult to obtain, I wonder if it was as popular as a Datejust would it still be as revered??

I'm still waiting for mine and it's been a couple of year so far. With regards to my purchase history, I purchased my first Rolex which was the BLNR in 2016 (circa £6400 or so).
I didn't purchase anything for a while after that and my SA changed in that time. However I have a good relationship with my SA now and he's supplied me with my CHNR (£11,850) and a Chopaed Alpine Eagle (circa £10,000) in 2021. This year he's got me a date Sub and the new GRNR. I've also purchased some earrings for my wife and that's it. I'm not sure where my spend ranks with getting a Pepsi but I'm easily over £45k now so would like to think that's enough. I'm sure it'll come one day but I'm happy to wait. In fact the wait is part of the fun!

I waited 16 months for mine. Someone else might get one on a walk in. Others could be waiting years. I was offered a BLNR on a walk in in 2020 - right place, right time, right SA, right circumstances. You never can tell.

My AD told me that the prices in the used market for the WG blue dial Pepsi will soon drop if not already. Instead of buying the overpriced SS Pepsi in the grey market, why not get the WG Pepsi under retail instead if you can afford it? Just a thought.

Instantly recognizable with historical lineage. They also delayed its come back to build even more demand than say a BLNR. The colors on the BLNR are perfect but it’s the modern Rolex GMT and many want that throwback look. I have owned all three (CHNR,BLRO, BLNR). All were equally special in their own way.

How long?
It depends. For me - 2 years, Midwest state, only prior spend was an SD4K. |

Want to get pissed off? None – It's all about relationships and purchase history, you don't need one or the other, but both together work better.

Will probably wait another 6 months or longer… idk. Depends if I really feel I can’t live without it and if the market comes down another 1 or 2k on it.

Took me right about 4 years. Spend history was engagement rings and then a speedmaster 3 years later. Finally came a few months after the speedmaster purchase.
