Medicare will not approve Rybelsus ($900/ month). They will approve Trulicity for much less, but it is a previous Gen drug. Leaning Rybelsus, will speak to my doctor.

Here is my one year update. My A1C and glucose were astronomical. I have used Rybelsus, Mounjero, Ozempic and Trulicity, depending on availability. I lost 30 lbs.My A1C and glucose are lower. They are at pre-diabetic levels.

My doctor also put me on low doses of a statin and blood pressure medication. I used to be resistant to medication, but a friend said every man your age is on it.

I think it would be hard to do with diet and exercise. I am sedentary by nature. The GL-P 1 meds turn off the buzzer that tells you to eat. There are side effects, but they are manageable.

Good luck to any pre-diabetics. I would work as hard as I could to stay away from diabetes. Whatever you need to do with diet, exercise (and drugs) would be worth it if it keeps you from having to live with diabetes.

Pre diabetes to type 2 diabetes

I知 technically in a pre-diabetic state based on my blood test results, but when I ask my doctor and cardiologist about it, they just shrug it off.

I had open heart surgery to repair a defective valve 4 years ago. They say my post operative status is excellent. The valve repair surgery was perfect. Since I had that operation, they池e keeping a close eye on me (annual transthoracic echocardiogram, blood work, etc.).

I do exercise a lot. I知 in the gym 3 days a week, and I ride my bike about 5 miles a day on average. Quite honestly, I think I知 in much better shape than most 60 year olds despite the operation I had.

But I do wonder why they think my blood test results are nothing to worry about. I suppose if I cross the line, they値l change their tune.

Your doctors are also probably encouraged by your successful surgery and your exercise routine.

I had an A1C of 96 when I was diagnosed in May 2023. I cut out potatoes in all forms, white bread, white rice, white pasta, simple carbs and fatty meats. I eat wholemeal bread only and go for lots of fibre. I lost about 20lbs and was the slimmest I've been since I was 19. I couldn't handle the various medication they tried me on but my A1C dropped to 33 and when it was last tested in April it was still at that level. I now manage it with diet only.

I think you mean an AIC of 9.6 and 3.3, correct? Unless it’s different in the UK.

It must be different here. The measure is mmol/mol, 0-48 (42-48 pre-diabetic) being normal, above that diabetic (HbA1c levl - IFCC). In your % measurements that's 10.9% maximum down to 5.2%

In the US 5.6 or lower is considered normal. Optimal is 5.2 or lower.

Cut out all sugar and carbs for 90 days and then see your results. You may feel very weak at first and crave these foods. The cravings should go away fairly quickly. Combined with exercise that does it for most people without meds. It is tough however, as the modern diet for many is all processed foods which are loaded with sugar and refined carbs and not much else. This type of food is really deleterious to most blood values when consumed regularly.

+1

Add some cooking classes to go with the change in diet, then cook meals from staple ingredients. Learn to prepare the things that you like without adding sugars. Then, avoid boxed meals.

For people who say they don't have the time to cook, you don't have the time to deal with the consequences of diabetes either. But spending that time cooking will leave you healthier.

Last weekend I was surfing some TikTok videos and saw a bunch on keto recipes. I typed a few of them out and have tried a few and they have been fantastic. I was strictly keto for a mos. before my European vacation, lost some weight, went hog wild on bread and beer in Europe and have been getting back to mostly keto now. It's hard to maintain when traveling, but I deal with folks with bad diabetes complications at work every day and I don't want to end up like them. My dad was always a health nut when I was growing up. Now he's doing finger sticks every morning and trying to put off going on insulin.

Can't contribute much as I'm 49 right now....2 years ago. was borderline hypertension, pre diabetic, tons of other weight related issues. Was put on high blood pressure meds on top.

I ended up in ER one day as my BP was super high.....my ER doc said I have to make lifetyls choices or start a new routine of high potent prescribed meds. I was at 215lbs ..heaviest in my life. I work from home (field engineer) and when I'm out at sites, its usually hotel stays so my diet was far from heathylu (restareurent foods, scotch and wine).

Then I decided to do something ...I'm now 180lbs, remedied most of my heatl related issues, dropped my HBP med to like only when needed. Started meal prepping and even when I'm out at a site, I book hotels that have a treadmill at the bare mimimum.

I got into running and I'm training outside and do 3-4 street runs at least 4 times a week. Also started lifting weights some months ago with my son and his teenage friends.

So make some lifestyle changes and you'll see how much u can control chronic diseases!! Good luck!

Taking 1 gram of Berberine a day lowers blood glucose. I'm taking 500mg every morning with breakfast, and 500mg every evening with dinner. In mid-May of this year my A1c was 5.6 and when it was tested again on the 3rd of this month it was 5.4.

I'm not familiar with Golo, so I just did a quick Google search on "what is Golo" and from what I saw, yes, there is Berberine extract, but the website doesn't say how much! That's a red flag for me.

Here's the Golo supplement ingredient list and the ingredient list from the Berberine that I take:
