I was on the fence for 3 years since the release of 124060, but woke up one day wonky and walked into the grey dealer and rest is history

I’ve gone both AD and Gray. Besides buying a hype piece (Daytona etc) at significantly over sticker, if you’re buying something for a bit over but it’s available now with no shenanigans, begging, and buying things you don’t want to get in good, then just go gray.
This does not apply to the heavy hitters who get what they want and have incredible AD relationships. This is for those new in the game or those who aren’t big time and just want a few nice watches.

My AD got me a JC Deepsea and a Skydweller TT. Been asking for a 40mm day date, a submariner, a stainless skydweller, YM 42 yellow, and a Daytona meteorite. Followed up multiple times. Only call I got was in a 36mm day date. Eventually you give up and start buying gray. Best part is the prices weren’t far off and you can enjoy the watches immediately. Life is short!
Yeah pretty much summed up with the no shenanigans, ain't no heavy hittter nor have a relationship with any AD. Just felt paying abit higher reasonates with me and the condition of the watch speaks to me

However, your title for this thread seems a bit of an oxymoron.
So long as folks pay over retail in the grey market for these watches, the so called “AD games” will continue. Remember, a lot of these watches are leaving the AD by whatever means and going straight to the secondary market.
We need to get back to a time when greys served to offer a great opportunity to buy a watch at a discount, not a premium.
You're right actually, but i just woke up on the wrong side of the bed one day and decided today is the day and plonked in.

It would be a mammoth effort from everyone to get the market down to what was previously the norm, just my 2 cents
