Martin, you have made my day! I want to visit Brighton now! On a sunny day of course. The question is: will a silly Dutch git be admitted?

Yes, and not afraid to make my opinions known, either. You suffer from that malady yourself, son!

Forty or so years ago when traveling about; some nice young lady, that I was loading up on booze, would make fun of my southern drawl. I would always poke fun at them and say that we all had a little redneck in us. If the deal was closed I would later on, at the right moment, tell them that they in fact, did have a little redneck in them after all. Always brought a good laugh. Crazy times back then.

Southern drawl, heh? My Rotterdam accent sticks out like a sore thumb and it unmistakable. It is very similar to the NYC accent, equally unmistakable. There was a time I was trying very hard to get rid of it because it is not 'chique' to have such an accent. Now I don't care anymore, you are what you are and I'll never be the spokesman for the Royal Dutch Language Society anyway

New York! Yea, I go there a bunch each year and will be up there next week to catch a Yankees game and chat with a good friend. When up there, I go to all the AD's and a couple of grey dealers and check out the watches. More than once the salesperson will look at me, look at my watch, listen to my accent and say "are you from down south"? Always makes me laugh. You fit in better than me!

Sometimes you're the dog and other times you're the hydrant We've been there four times in a row, my city Straightforward people, I like that. Some call this rude but that's the way we Rotterdammers are as well. No beating around the bush
