I would buy them in a heartbeat, and sell them both a grey dealer. Rinse and repeat until you achieve your dollar target.

Is that what you want to hear? :)

Nope, at this junction I would buy gray. The ladies watch will lose a big chunk, probably about 25-30% right off the bat.

Not unless my wife really wants that Datejust. Otherwise, I like your plan of just showing up and asking for the BLNR. I suspect the AD isn’t going to budge as they probably have a ton of other customers who would take that deal.

I personally wouldn’t, but I can understand where some might.

I would not do it as I am not a fan of the DJ combo. I never buy anything with the intention to sell it.

And thats exactly what wrong with the Rolex hobby today to some nothing more than ££$$€€ object things and nothing more, once they were watches bought to wear and enjoy.

I like your idea of walking in , but do bring a friend to witness the attempted extortion, and do inspect the DJ, tell them you know your better half would not like it, but you will take the Batman. At least you will make the SA uncomfortable, as they tell you, you can’t have a watch that you know is available for sale, and mention you will be contacting Rolex headquarters about the attempted extortion.

I’d have to pass on that one. I’m not above a bundle but I’d prefer a Daytona ss alongside a Pepsi jubilee

I wouldn't do it. Especially for a watch that you don't want. Doesn't seem worth it.

I am not a dealer and bought all my watches grey with a significant markup as I'm willing to pay the price for getting the piece immediately, but I can't understand what's with all the posts claiming the ad is extorting.

6 months ago, you didn't even have a choice to bundle. Now this choice is offered to you. If you don't like it, walk away. Someone who values the deal will take it. Otherwise the ad will be forced to offer another bundle which is more financially palatable. You don't have a natural right to buy a rolex that is in high from an ad. If you were an ad, wouldn't you try to maximise profits too?

Self entitlement vibes are strong here.

Funny because when supply was/is tight that is exactly what car dealers do.

They stock only fully trimmed up models that cost thousands (or tens of thousands) more and much of it with options you may not want.

But because of limited supply, many buy the loaded up cars with features they don’t want or need. This is the better alternative, of course, vs dealer markups.

At least with this AD offer you can sell the piece you don’t want and recoup much of the cost.

I assume you'd take a beating on that DJ....enough of a beating to just go grey if you want the Batman.
I got offered a similar watch / package and my first thought was 'my AD hates me'.

Go on wearing a wire and expose them?

You’d have to be desperate, filthy rich or desperate to do this deal. Just go grey if no joy.

That’s what Ferrari and Porsche dealers do if you want a hot car.

Or take a bath on your trade.

You got to pay them one way or another.

If you don't want it don't buy it. This seems so obvious yet it comes up time after time.

If you are keen to flush excess money down the toilet to get a SS GMT you would, as has been stated several times, be better off going to a grey dealer. No diamond studded milstone to dispose of and it will probably cost you less overall.

Or you could politely decline with thanks, ask your AD for just the BLNR, sit back, and wait. It might turn up sooner than you think.

I like this idea. Go in videoing because you are excited for your unboxing! That way it's all on tape when they bring out the batman and then rescind the offer.

I totally agree with this. Just go grey on the Batman. Good luck.

Tell them you'll pay the MSRP for the BLNR in dollars but that it's a package deal and they have to accept the MSRP of the other watch in pesos and see if they go for it!

Everyone on the internet is an armchair lawyer...it's not extortion. The dealer wants to sell both watches together, that is their right to do so...no one is forcing anyone to buy anything.

A better tactic would be to see if the dealer has a return policy for items in brand new condition, and if they do then the OP should buy the bundle and then before leaving the store return the DJ.
