They are trending towards the 30k mark. Pre-owned can be found between 28.5k to 30k
Asking price is not market price.

Ok I see the 39k listing. Its fully stickered, hence the premium over current market.

It’s Takuya who is obviously a legend and he knows what he is doing.

Not saying he will get that (but I bet he gets damn close) but it is pretty rare to see a steel Daytona hit the market fully stickered.

Rolex is still hawt and desirable.

VC shouldn’t have ever gotten to those price points..

AP and Patek shall stabilize…they need a hawt reference to float things higher. Will happen

Omega and the such are absolute case warmers… those brands are plummeting fast.

Omegas and other luxury Swiss are at pre pandemic prices and are all lower than MSRP. Thoughts and insights welcome.
Simple answer with some Rolex watches are now just ££$$€€ object things and little more.

Maybe, maybe not but if any modern Rolex model has the potential the white SS Daytona is the one. It did hit $50k and sold for $50k during Covid so a high number has already been set. I know if I didn’t already have one, now is the time I would be buying at this lower market price point.
The Daytona in general is a model that is a bucket list watch for many and purchasing one when you can afford it, at a number you can live with is the key.

Sorry everyone, it was me.

A pic sneaked out of me wearing mine, and as one of the top influencers in the world.... I begged John Mayer and that British guitarist guy to not copycat me by wearing theirs. Can you imagine the demand if that happened?!?!?

Prices are coming down as the markets have come down after having a good first half. Wait until the economy really hits the crapper. I think that sellers are trying to unload before the market really sinks.

I've only seen Daytonas going down. But I think we're in a lull where old Daytonas aren't going out to AD's and new Daytonas aren't either. When we start seeing the new Daytonas being shipped out en masse I think we'll see old Daytonas drop more quickly.

I'm a buyer when they update the movement to high beat rate and decimal chronograph. Until then, hard pass!

I believe my economics professor said consumer and luxury goods will be valued at whatever the market will bear. Frankly, I think this watch has now proven for many years it is worth exactly way north of MSRP!!

It’s ok if it’s not the watch for you.

When I purchased my 2015 116520 Daytona from my AD, before the craze, I had to get on a list. I didn’t have to wait long, but wait I did. During that same time period, I was able purchase a pre-owned Hulk for $7,000! Gives you an idea of the market at the time.

I doubt there will be a time when you see stainless Daytonas in abundance at any AD.

Of course. Maybe not the SS ones. But Daytonas make over 10% of all Rolex

I personally love the Daytona. I've seen an increase in interest on it the past few years I think part of it could be because of the hype around chronograph. It's the model Rolex makes with that has a chrono feature and the look is pretty popular. My personal favorite is white dial Daytona, but all are still beautiful in there own ways.

I’d be really surprised if market goes up on 116500s in the next year. Pretty much every other Rolex is coming down in price. This includes GMT’s, Sub’s etc. my guess is a lot of dealers are holding inventory and trying to slowly release. As mentioned one (a black dial) just sold at auction, fees included for under $25k. Other gray dealers have black dials listed in the mid $20s. Yes, David is high but is higher on all of his watches, probably due to having 2 retail spaces now.

Full disclosure: I’m in the market and am hoping they drop more. But my opinion above is my true thoughts. If I thought they weren’t going to come down I’d buy one now. If 500’s continue to go up, no issue. Ill grab a 16520 for the same money or a 116520, or let’s say the entire Daytona market rises, no issue, I can grab 2 5 digit watches that I’ve wanted like a GMT and Explorer II for the same money. These are completely optional items and paying 2x over retail seems a bit extreme to me.

16520's are selling in the low 20's to mid 30's. To think the 116500 settles around 2x MSRP is not an outlandish thought.

Can they go lower than where they are now? I think so. The question is whether or not someone wants to buy unworn as that is where these will hold value IMO, and those are only going to reduce in availability over time.

This figure was from a quick Chrono24 research done by myself.
Looked at all Rolexes available from 2022.

here is somewhere an extensive thread where someone did a quite thorough research. The Daytona is one of the high volume models of Rolex. If you count all the configurations. And most of them are PM, so huge margin for Rolex. Sure you need to drop in a few steel ones to hype it more.

For 2023 there are even mor Daytonas for sale than Submariners. Of course you could argue Chrono24 listings are not Rolex manufacturing numbers. That’s right, but those are impossible to get.

Makes sense. It’s the flagship sport watch, so makes sense that with all of the configurations there will be a lot of them out there.
