this. That sub looks just a tad big on you, and the 36mm Exp looks just a tad small. Your wrist looks a bit smaller than mine which is 6.8 in (curious, have you measured yours?). Can you wear either one, for sure. But as Watchsprings suggested, take a look at a 5 digit sub and 39mm Exp (and I have both - and very much like both - even though I've been wearing my 116610LN lately). It comes down to you doing what you want to do - doesn;t matter what we think

Submariner 41mm x Explorer 36mm : on my wrist!

Explorer fits better but if you have a 34mm OP then I’m guessing you are looking for more of a tool watch feel.
The 39mm explorer would have those toolish proportions and matte dial….. or the 40mm explorer will give more variety compared to the OP you already own.
But for a two watch collection the submariner would make more sence and I’m guessing it would fit you well enough for a tool watch/ diver.

And as Jerocop mentioned
Buy both and sell the OP seems like a great option if you love the smaller explorer as much as I do

I have both, and love them for different reasons, but based on your pictures, I think the exp looks a little better on you

Sub is an iconic watch and looks great... But the Explorer fits better.

Find a 16610 and call it a day :)

Definitely the smaller explorer of you prefer that look over the submariner.

No wonder the Explorer looks perfect on you. Whoever said it looks too big needs their head examined.

OP, what dial colour is your OP34? This might help with the suggestions. The Explorer looks perfect in your first photo when you wore it above your wrist bone. The next two photos where you wore it below your wrist bone made it look odd, at least to me.

I love the SubDate and I don't think it looks too big for you, but it is close to the max. Both are very different watches. Which one made you smile more when on your wrist? That's the one you should get. Good luck!

Between these, Explorer. Now if it were a 14060m or a 124060 I’d be hard pressed to choose. I don’t like contemporary black subs with date, but that is just me. Plus I think that the Explorer looks objectively better on your wrist compared to the sub. Not that the sub looks awful or bad, just a little harder to wear from the pictures.

Obviously the Explorer suits you better + less common than a sub.

I think both look good.

The sub is definitely the biggest you’d want to go but it’s a diver so it looks fine a little big. From what I can tell, it spans your entire wrist but doesn’t overhang.

I’d go with whatever feels more comfortable as those are the ones you tend to wear the most.

Got the sub!

Hi guys! Just an update, I got the sub!!

How it looks? I’m feeling a bit odd about the size, how long until I get used to it?

Thanks for all the support.

I own both. The Sub is the better watch and it is also the better looking watch.

However... The Explorer is the MOST comfortable watch I have ever owned and worn.

Get both.

It looks fine… I think that a pre-ceramic would look better but if you like it then you like it. I find that in the end of the day, my internal feeling matters the most.

Love the look of the Sub - it is a substantial watch with a lot of wrist presence, yet it maintains a timeless look that is unmistakable as a classic diver's watch. I rotate between my modern 126610 and vintage 1680 to mix it up a bit. The 1680 is bit more understated on the wrist.

Sub has a great "presence" compared to the Explorer 36

sub vs a exp 39mm would have been a more comparable evaluation. Sub looks good on you, and yes, it is a watch with a lot of wrist presence. Just forget its there and you will notice it less and less.

Have you heard of shrinkage?
the 36 will look small on your wrist in a week
