The yachtmaster 42 give you way more gold, resale value and status vs this 1/100 different speedy model. Just my opinion, YM might be a bit more $.

Not a fan of OF. Especially on a PM piece. So not worth it to me.

I like the look of a Rubber Strap on a Sports Watch.

I have an OysterFlex Bracelet (as Rolex calls it) on one of my Daytonas, and it is very comfortable.

the rubbed tends to wear pretty quick. Not sure how you would keep it looking clean.

Do you own an OF? I bought a my first OF Daytona in 2018. The strap still looks new and I wear almost daily.

But if you need bling, or want people to notice, don't buy one. I get a lot of nice comments about mine, but it isn't a watch people will notice like a YG Day-Date.

However, a few years ago, I overheard a person tell her friend, "see that watch, it is very expensive".

Having a Rolex on rubber is not that odd to me. What's odd is how difficult Rolex makes something simple like a rubber strap. Why the metal inside? It makes sizing a pain in that it's not self adjustable other than at the clasp.

I get it that Rolex wanted something more upscale, but it's a pain in the rear. Also given that Oysterflex models won't accept a Rolex bracelet....I just don't get why Rolex makes it so difficult to have fun with a rubber strap....which is what I usually associate with rubber watch straps.....an opportunity to have fun with bracelets and straps on a very expensive watch....and to have some flexibility in water or summer days.

I'd rather buy a RubberB strap and get the standard bracelet version.

It's an awesome piece IMO. Speaking for the colored gold daytona variants, it's sporty/casual, and it's also class and elegance all in the same stroke. I also am very fond of the WG version, and that can truly pass as under the radar (relatively speaking). The straps with the fins are also quite comfortable and they are pretty durable. If by chance they wear out in 10 yrs, is $280 for replacement going to break any of us? As for the thought of going all gold at a 30% higher price point, it changes the look and feel of the watch completely. Bling factor elevates to a different level. The ceramic bezel is also absent on the full gold models.

As some have mentioned 'stupid' is subjective when it comes to aesthetics. But count me in as a big fan of the model, as it can be very casual and smart casual at the same time. Almost a perfect piece.

I tried on a watch on yesterday with a rubber strap, it had a buckle and pin, I’m not sure if that’s the correct description, anyway me having quite small wrists the strap sat on my wrist horribly, especially the way the buckle sat, it caused a huge gap between my wrist and the buckle.

The Daytona OF sits really well on my wrist, managed to find the perfect sizing, I think the titanium core must give body, shape and longevity the bracelet.

I also really like the way Rolex have made different size options for each Side, I’m guessing they’ve calculated all the different size options that are achieved on a metal bracelet and transferred those size differences to the OF with the different size options that can be bought.

I think it’s a much better system than cutting a strap on a watch.

Also I find having a clasp attached to rubber bracelet is very classy and functional.

I’m not sure if my reply is correct for your post or is relative.

I would love to see some testing on this titanium core. Much as I love the OF, I primarily love it for the aesthetic: black rubber is just gorgeous with YG.

But in this (Italian) video, he cuts an OF in half to see the titanium core. It looks far thinner than I'd have imagined. I thought it would be a couple of millimeters thick: slim enough to flex, but thick enough to support. But it looks more like a fraction of a millimeter, almost like aluminium foil:

https://youtu.be/TzbfxR-H5DU?t=329

And being that thin, I'd guess the rubber supports the overall shape far more than the titanium core. Perhaps the core helps resist longitudinal stretch, is that it?

Thanks for sharing, interesting to see the core of the OF. I think another really good positive is that if the OF ever needs replacing the bracelet relatively cost effective.

Is the Oysterflex worth it.. or?

As an owner of multiple PM with PM bracelets and one with an OF, I feel that there are distinct advantages to the OF. I love the fact that mine comes complete with a gold Glide Lock clasp. The watch is comfortable and much more so than it would be with the all gold bracelet. Also the Glide Lock clasp allows for easy on the fly adjustments. If there weren't so much antagonism on the site against them I might have ended up with all OFs and none of the PM ones. I've tried the OF on other stainless models but it just isn't the same as the OEM design. I really believe that Rolex knew what they were doing with this bracelet. Thumbs-up to Rolex.

I just love it when a guy with a 10K watch makes snide comment about people's 40K+ watches. So credible. If it were a Patek in gold with a rubber strap would that be the same comment? They lead Rolex in the charge. Follow your own advice and buy a full PM watch.

Love OF! Adds sportiness to Daytona, provides nice contrast, eliminates pcls, allows ceramic bezel option on pm, is very comfortable, and allows the Daytona to look/wear a bit larger. There are plenty of luxury pm watches on rubber now days. I love the OF so much, I bought a set for my ss daytona.

I love my YM on Oysterflex. It's more sporty and under the radar than a full gold bracelet. I also have a RG DD but the YM get more wear since it is less flashy. The DD is my favorite watch but not worn that often.

Does the Oysterflex have some sort of micro adjustment?

Mine has a smaller version of the glide lock without the safety clasp. It should be standard on all Rolex bracelets (but it’s not).

Thanks. I really appreciate it. I could have looked it up on their website I suppose. :)

Anyway, that’s great because I always find the best fitting watches to be on bracelets with some sort of micro adjustments. I never like how watches on a leather or rubber strap fit on me. Seems like they’re always either too loose or too tight and never perfect.

The perception around rubber is similar to white gold. Why buy a white gold watch, it looks like stainless? I paid 3x more for something that looks the same? Same with rubber, I paid $15k or $35k for this watch on rubber? Looks cheap. You can buy an $30 rubber strap and it’ll be the same.

This is what I thought earlier in my collecting journey. Now, I don’t care about that. The OF makes my Daytona the most comfortable watch I have. After you’ve gone through a bunch of rubber straps from various manufacturers as well as the aftermarket ones, you realize that Rolex just does it better. I like the stealth of white gold and rubber, I buy the watch for me. Not to say I don’t like the design and look of a full rose gold watch like the CHNR, it’s a beautiful piece. But it’s loud and blingy; sometimes I want that but most of the time I don’t. I don’t need to justify to the world I spent $40k by walking around with that bling, it’s enough that I know myself and I did so because I want to pay for the details (like the perfect rubber bracelet).

Remember the OF is not a rubber strap. It’s a titanium blade covered in polymer bracelet. It’s much more rigid and solid than your typical “rubber” strap. For me i own some of the most iconic watches but the oysterflex with the glide lock is hands down the most comfortable and best bracelet watch i have ever owned.
