After decades at this, selling will bring sorrow.

Sure you don't wear it now.. But whos to say that isn't going to change some time down the line?

True. I do feel that I need to spend more time wearing each watch before making a decision.

There is something alluring about a two watch collection. It keeps your day-to-day choices narrow & may help you hone your focus moving forward.

I like the VTNR, but can't do the LHD style. Looks strange to me. The VTNR is a polarizing piece, as it has cool colors & doesn't look like anything else. The Exp1 just works with anything. T-shirt, hiking, commuting, nicer dinners... Be real with yourself: Do you need something else beside those two? Can the money saved be put somewhere else (investments) to fund something bigger down the road (Day-Date, Daytona, etc.)?

Great point. These reply’s are definitely making me think more about the sub.

Sounds like you really enjoy the Explorer so don’t sell it just because people say the Sub is a “better” or more substantial watch.

I personally would rather have an Explorer and VTNR duo than a VTNR and Sub pair.

Don’t rush your decision though.

Exactly! Take some time you would have a better decision to take.

Give it some time and feel things out. Congrats on the VTNR!

You have a great 3 watch collection and I think all are different enough to co-exist. If you want more versatility, try sourcing a jubilee for your GMT. If you simply want a smaller collection, then to me the Sub & GMT are very similar and sounds like you prefer the GMT, so I'd sell the Sub if I were you.

That being said, I also wouldn't hold onto the Explorer simply for sentimental reasons if you enjoy the other two more. I'm also trying to work towards a smaller collection, though my tolerance is slightly higher than yours at 4/5 watches. In order for me to do this, I've had to make some tough calls and have sold my first luxury watch (Seamaster) and my first Rolex (OP39).

I've not regretted these decisions and whilst I understand the sentimentality that can be associated with a watch, I have plenty of memories and photographs of each, to look back to should I feel the need. Particularly with the Omega, it used to bother me to see this sitting unworn for several months at a time when someone else could be wearing/enjoying this. I would sometimes force myself to wear it, and when I did, I didn't enjoy it as much as my Sub. With this in mind, I'd advise not to worry too much about sentiment if you have a target of say a two-watch collection.

I appreciate you sharing your story. It helps to hear what other thoughts are on the matter. I do realize that I need more time to decide. I definitely don’t want to sell one and then regret it later. I have been wearing the GMT the most. My personal opinion is that the sub is redundant with the GMT. I tend to agree that the Sub would be the one to sell. Thanks for your reply.

You've got a nice group of watches. I wouldn't mess with it and just enjoy them.

I would sell the 124270 without thinking, the VTNR and the 126610LN are imho classics

I love the VTNR but I’d hardly call it a classic. It’s a quirky watch that has barely been out for a year.

I would think an Explorer and a Sub would be the two classics here.

If you’re not wearing the DJ now, you never will. That was true for me. Move on and see what the future holds.

Very good point. I really haven’t been wearing the Explorer much lately. And that is what prompted me to start this thread and get some feedback from other watch enthusiasts.

I think you could probably get away with selling the other 2 and be a 1-watch guy.
