If I am going to a Rolex AD, I just try to make sure I am wearing a Rolex.
My ADs are 1.5 and 2 hours away from me. They don't see me every week, or every month. So, to keep it interesting I try to wear something that might be a little bit interesting to them - maybe something they haven't seen me wear before. Yes, I have gone gray market and honestly only one of my watches was purchased from an AD. I would love the chance to buy from them, but I waited a long time for some of my purchases. Others just kind of fell into my lap and I couldn't pass up - like my two 1601s and a 69173 I picked up. I wasn't actively looking, but couldn't pass up the deals. I did get offered a 16710 recently and couldn't pass on it. So, maybe next time I will wear that 17610 or my new to me 1601 - just because they haven't seen those yet. If they want my money, then I don't think it matters what I wear - it's all about timing, and I haven't had the timing on my side to this point. I am definitely NOT a flipper and don't intend to become one. PDG |

Has nothing to do with the watch you wear. Has everything to do with how much you know what you’re talking about.

I typically wear 1 of 2 watches at Rolex AD drive bys.
1. 116500 White Daytona ... typical response is to ask where I bought it from. 2. WG Blue-dialed Pepsi ... typical response is to say 'wow, that's a nice watch, what are you interested in today?'

Where did you get the 116500 - and if "secondary" - do you tell them?

It makes for a good story and is true, but I think a made up 'big spender at prior AD' story would probably get me more points...

I walked into an AD I'd never been in before wearing my 116509.
I was dressed extremely casually in jeans and an old T shirt. My entire left arm is tattooed as is much of my right. The "doorman" was a bit reluctant to let me in However the youngish SA who greeted me with the warmest of smiles and a polite handshake's first words after the initial greeting and polite welcome were "That's a beautiful Daytona, is there anything specific I can help you with" Clearly the watch says I'm not a tyre kicker and the way I was dressed says I'm not here to try and impress you. When I smiled said "don't worry, I'm not interested in anything in the professional range in stainless steel" I'm pretty sure I made his day

I am usually wearing my black 116500LN when I visit various ADs but I’m dressed like what I am, a married man with kids. My kids classmates once asked my kids why their dad dresses like a poor person when he wears expensive watches .

Snoopy 50th anniversary. Always a conversation starter. People even ask to try it on at different ADs (I only shop at one nowadays) and take pictures.

If.you walk in with a pepsi or Daytona that means you have connections or a spender.
I would think that would.mean they would want to become your go to ad and make the commissions off you |

I wear my F-91W. It puts the SA on notice that I know my watches.

Splashing 50k on jewelry helps the most (per a Rolex AD SA)
