I disagree with this take. The blue on the BLNR vs. BLRO are not the same, not even close. The BL in BLNR is more vibrant than the BLRO which has a deep purple hue to it.

My thoughts change daily. I really like the BLNR on Oyster and BLRO on Jubilee.

only reason I prefer the BLRO is because a family member already has the BLNR on oyster. I’d have gone BLNR if it was the other way around.

I’d have to say the jubilee bracelet is my preference. The articulation on the wrist and comfort is excellent.

Getting past which one’s harder to get, I could make up two very good owners argument for both models equally compelling. I think actual owners view points on strengths and dislikes can really help those new to make a informed choice.

Bracelet choices:
Oyster is more sporty and a touch more masculine but shows hairline scratches significantly more on the PCL. Bracelet pins are thicker/beefier and the actual head of the pin is wider like the Sub.

Jubilee is a touch more flashy and easier in hiding any scratches on the polished inner links. Bracelet pins are thinner.

I will offer up two of my pics as a reference.

Why did you sell them?

I agree the blues are different, but I prefer the blue on the BLRO.

Probably the jubilee bracelet never sang to me as much as the oyster. The pastel hue of the mark 1 BLRO never seemed to match anything and gave me a pink with red vibe. The later hue of the BLRO is darker for sure. The blue on the BLNR was perfect and popped yet seemed to blend with clothing more. Much stronger and brighter blue hue on the BLNR. I may renown one of these again on oyster. These days I tend to be more Sub and Daytona minded but a GMT will fall back in my collection.

Now that the dust settled with the nicknames I find it odd the BLNR is still either a Batman or Batgirl depending on bracelet yet the BLRO is only a Pepsi regardless of bracelet????

The BLNR was the watch I wanted for my 1st Rolex. That was 7 years ago and I could not get it from an AD. 6 years later I was offered a choice between the BLNR or the BLRO from my AD as my 4th Rolex. I could not resist and went with the BLRO. Got it on oyster. Totally satisfied, it was bliss for 3 months.

Now I’m on the list for a BLNR on jubilee. I want them both and want to switch bracelets… It’s an illness

I just think the colors on the BLRO look wrong. I think they actually are wrong Rolex just never bothered to get it right. I always just seem a reddish purple and a purplish blue. Just knowing they didn’t get the colors they wanted to and settled with what they had is a turn off to me.

BLNR just looks right. Low key and cool. The blue looks good and matches the gmt hand nicely. Just looks correct

I like the new grey one also

It’s been almost 3 yrs that I purchased the BLRO on oyster. My AD sold me the Jubilee bracelet 3 months later. After switching back and forth between the two, I found myself always fiddling with it on oyster because it just wouldn’t stay put on my wrist.
I don’t have that issue when wearing on the jubilee at all. This BLRO is I guess if you believe in the whole Mk 1-3 would be a Mk3, and I love the play in color. In the day you have changes from a soft palette to a rich dark color late in the day. Come evening and night it almost becomes a NRRO (coke.) So 2 watches in one right? What a joy it’s been. Just my take on spending time with this stunning timepiece. ;)

I love my BLRO on jubilee. With a very small (16cm/16.25inch) wrist, the jubilee fits better. I also have a 124060 and really love the oyster bracelet even though the jubilee fits me better. My ranking if I had to choose is: BLRO on jubilee followed by BLNR on oyster.

BLRO on Oyster for me. My BLRO came on a jubilee but I have since purchased an Oyster for it.

BLNR (on the Oyster) by a mile for me - hence why I own a BLNR and turned down a BLRO from my AD.

I love the history and colourway of the BLRO (and think the 5 digit version is a thing of beauty), but the current version just isn't executed as well as it should be IMO. The bezel colours are just too hit and miss (with the emphasis more on "miss") for me. Some are pink and purple, some are more fuchsia and navy, some are almost black and crimson, and all of them are a different colour red to the GMT hand.

In contrast the BLNR's bezel has a proper blue and a deep black.

In terms of bracelets, the BLRO is pretty much the only watch that I think looks good on the Jubilee - in fact, I think that's the best bracelet option for it, although it does also work on the Oyster as well. In contrast I don't like the BLNR on the Jubilee at all. All JMO of course!

I owned both (not at the same time).

I never bonded with the BLNR color scheme at all.

The BLRO is perfect (to my eyes ).

I guess it just goes to show, we all see colors slightly differently

BLRO is the perfect GMT in my opinion.
I like the BLNR in pics and have tried it more than once but it didn't last long at all.

BLRO and easily so for me.
I’ve never been attracted to the BLNR but I’ve also never had any time with one, maybe I would like it more.

But the BLRO WG was my first new Rolex and have since added to it with the SS version only a couple of weeks ago.

Between the two the BLRO by a land slide, the BLNR colors are strange imho.

The real winner is the CHNR

I always thought they kind of make the most sense of any of the GMT variants - black for night, blue for day.

(Obviously here in the UK they should be black and grey of course! )

I own both on Jubilee and prefer the BLRO for the color. Both are great though.

I bet if you added a pole to this, it would end up 60/40 BLRO/BLNR.

It’s very close. The BLRO has been out now awhile so it’s newness has stabilized and the BLNR which its looks have gone unchanged the longest is holding its own. IMO, I don’t think there should be such a street price difference between the two models at this point in time. They both are so good at what they are. If Rolex makes buying a bracelet more accessible, it will only help both models even more.

Not to speculate too much but thinking out loud, I can see Rolex updating the colors on the BLRO bezel and possibly discontinuing the BLNR and replace it with a Coke or all black GMT. The BLNR has been out a long time.

I agree they are both great references and have their fan base.

I was referring more to poles such as these where the preference tends to favour the BLRO 60/40 ish
