That is a beautiful watch. I dont think it look too small.

I used to own a Paneari and it was 44mm and of course LOOKED bigger than anything else I owned at the time, cause it WAS. BUT I grew tired of it and sold it off. It didnt "fit" me, though it was a beautiful watch none the less.

I dont find 36-40mm watches too small. Im not a small guy myself and I think they look fine.

Even if you dont wear that watch very much, it is a piece of Rolex history and as such, should be cherished. If you decide you do not want it, Im sure it would sell very fast on here or anywhere else you care to list it.

The larger similar dial I know is the DJII, like the one in pic, available also in black.

Pic credit goes to jets.

Size wise I think it looks perfect. Now if don't like the face that's a totally different story... but the size for your wrist is perfect.

I'm not sure I can live with it and may have to sell it after only one day - I think the main problem is that it's on a leather strap, I'm wondering if the oyster bracelet would balance it up a bit and make it look less like a children's watch?
If YOU dont like it or think its small SELL it and get what you like.It looks good but its your watch so you make the call.

I agree with everyone else, looks great on your wrist, but if you cant overcome the size shock sell it. Personally I would give it a few days of wear though...

I had the same hang up. My first rolex (2 years ago) was a 34mm oyster perpetual all stainless. I was excited to finally get a rolex, but I could never get past the small size.

I find size trends in watches interesting.

During World War Two, 30mm was a big watch, a man's size. The Elgin A-11, the commonest US military issue watch, was 32mm. That would be nearly toylike today- my Citizen BSA watch is 32mm, and it looks tiny on my wrist.

The Benrus GGW113 issue watch from Vietnam was 35mm. The current issue Marathon is 34mm.

Once, a Submariner at 40mm was huge. Now, it's considered by some to be a floor for size. Very odd. What's next, the Zlatoust Russian Diver as an everyday watch?

You're right - the way things are going with the popularity of big watch makers like Panerai, U-Boat, AP and Hublot, today's "normal'' might be tomorrow's "small''. But makers are probably only responding to what the market wants, so it's simply a function of changing tastes I guess.

I really like the watch you have there. I find myself contstantly paging back to look at the picture of it. And quite honestly, that might be my next watch purchase.

I am growing tired of the large, larger, largest trend. I mean, my heaviest watch is almost 10 ounces and I know there are full pounders on the market. To mush for me. Give me a nice 40- 44 MM and I'm all good.

If you don't like it 100%, sell it here on TRF and buy one you 100% like. No big deal.
