I called my local AD the other day and asked if I could buy a Daytona.
The sales lady practically hung up in my ear. There was a short silence after the word "NO." and then "Goodbye".

longer hard to get? UK
I have seen a number of Daytonas appearing and from talking to some AD's they have been less upbeat in their sales patter but they are still maintaining that there is a waiting list, however i know of 2 people in the last 4 weeks that have called around and managed to find one from an AD they have no relationship with.
I think they are out there, still not lots of them but they are out there! |

I've never seen a S/S Daytona on display in an AD's window in Singapore. They are however, obtainable from an AD - for payment of a premium, of course. I believe that premium is now about 10-15% above MRSP (which is not as high as the 50% a couple of years ago but a premium nonetheless); alternatively, buyers can usually find one for less at one of several secondhand shops that do display the watch in their windows.

Miracles do happen as some members here can attest to. Just generally speaking ADs use their meager allotment of SS as leverage to get you to spend or as a reward to loyal customers/friends or family. When I was trying to get my first SS I went to many ADs and actually only saw a list being pulled out once. It was two pages long. Other ADs I dealt with for a fact I know told me I was on thier list but thier SS were going out the back door to friends of the owner. |

What, like living in a country other than the U.S.? You know, the original question was about the U.K., not the U.S.
