Totally agree. We all should ignore the hype for any product, not just watches, and get what suits us the best. Unless you are a flipper for profit purposes.

If you're looking for more "tool-ish," then the closest to that from your list would be the sub.

If you want a tool-ish GMT, try the Tudor.

As a pilot you simply must own and use a GMT. I leave on a 4 day trip today and go thru 5 different time zones so the GMT function is essential. As a traditionalist I wear a BLRO. Have owned a BLNR and CHNR but only the BLRO stuck.
There simply is no other choice! I vote BLRO, BLNR, CHNR in that order.

It’s no one of anyone’s business why someone buys a watch, it can be for a number of reasons, and peoples situations and likes change all the time …
I couldn’t care less reasons behind why someone buys a particular model simply because if you earn your money it’s your decision what you do with it ..
I’m not being confrontational, just see it as no one else’s business apart from OP why he bought a Daytona ..
I’d love one , I’d love most versions and stand little chance of getting one , and so what if it is hype driven , I love the look of a Daytona and my perceived prestige with that watch ..
I use my iPhone to tell the time …

Nice shot of the green

Daytona has always been underwhelming on my wrist as well, all the way back to pre-ceramic days when they were sitting in display cases and probably available at a discount.

Between those 4, the LV i guess. I'd rather have a Pepsi, but it's not on your list.

The Daytona is a very nice watch...Over rated, Yes...But I nice watch...

I had two and ended up selling them both...

Poor legibility and the screw down pushers make the Chrono feature to much trouble to actually use...

Just my opinion of course...

I would use the chrono hand as my second hand , I’ve read enough that says it doesn’t affect the movement only may drain the power , I think it looks cooler with it running ..

Get whichever GMT you like best! Of those you mentioned, the CHNR is the prettiest, by far.

My daily is a 114060 Submariner and had an opportunity for the last Daytona (black dial) and GMT (VTNR) from AD at the same time last year.

Almost went for Daytona "hype", however I travel internationally several times a year, love green and am left handed. Therefore, the VTNR was my choice and looking back have no regrets. As others have mentioned above, buy what sings to you and wear it - that's the sizzle on the steak!!

Completely agree with you regarding the Daytona, OP. "underwhelming" has been my experience.

If it were me I'd go 126710 BLNR (Jubilee) - Can't beat the comfort that the jubilee bracelet articulation provides on-wrist. Would definitely go GMT though, given you're a pilot.

Can't really go wrong with any of the choices you listed, though. Good luck!

The ones who wanted the BLNR will still want it despite Rolex releasing a new color bezel, like the Coke.
I agree. IIRC the 116710 BLNR went up a bit after it was "discontinued".

Congratulations. Never been a fan of the Daytona (wears small and I like a date function), but I love the watch you just picked up.

It's a beauty.

Based on your post, I’d suggest the rootbeer.

If not for the pilot part, I’d suggest the 124060.

Other than the Root Beer, I own or have owned all of them and the only one I love is the BLNR. It’s a modern masterpiece. And by the way, the sizing and proportions of the BLNR (the current 12 version) has far better sizing and proportions than the Sub 12.

I have tried the Root Beer on several times and I don’t care for it. I also don’t like the color brown though.

Get the BLNR. It’s amazing.

Can you expand on this? I personally love the maxi-case over the 12 series..but is that what you’re getting at?

Most prefer the proportions of the sub 12 series…

Hate to tell. You but variety is the way to go. I have almost all the same watches and having a rotation is far better than committing to one. The Daytona grows on you as you wear it,so you may have just needed time.

The 41 sub lv is great, love mine, though I do wear the blnr and daytona as well. One I never fits all occasions , but to each their own. Congrats on lv.

Both the 12 series Sub and GMT models are considered super cases, with one featuring slimmer lugs and wider lug width. The GMT does sit smaller on the wrist, even though it’s a few millimetres smaller. The clasp is also much smaller. If you get a chance, try both on, and you’ll see how the 41mm, while having beautiful proportions, wears larger. It would be nice if they kept the current case size on the GMT but widened the bracelet to 21mm, but it’s all good if they didn’t.

The word "maxi" is usually used to describe the dial, as in the maxi dial introduced on the 50th anniversary Sub LV.
