I can handle 18k. 24k yellow is just too much for me. And...I can't see 24k and not think of BR now.

Big fan of RG and its variants.

Sorry, I don’t think it’s age driven at all and it’s wrong to be so judgmental.

I prefer the WG Sub over the YG Sub simply because I love the way it looks. It has nothing to do with my age, “stealth wealth,” or anything like that.

I prefer the YG DayDates because they look better, a lot better (IMHO).

When it comes to the Daytona, that’s a tough choice for me. I like the YG and WG Daytonas on Oysterflex about the same. If I was ever choosing between the two, that would be an extremely difficult decision for me.

I have to admit I’m not the biggest fan of everose gold. But I do like the YM 40 on tge Oysterflex.

People that buy white gold is that they can. And yes you can tell the difference between WG and SS just open your eyes.

I agree with this statement. Yellow gold never goes out of style. Although, Everose is unique. I'd stay away from White gold. Only a few watches pull off the WG look to the extent that I PERSONALLY think would be worth buying. Just my two cents.

Which models can pull off a WG in your mind?

Great conversation by the way everyone!

Im just guessing that your checking was somewhat limited.Gold is an 'element' not a color. I myself prefer White gold as it is not as flashy, I travel Asia extensively.

Lots of opinions here. I'd echo that the shade of gold should go well with the dial and/or skin tone. I'd say I like RG (a bit newer) and YG (a bit traditional) the same. WG is nice, but a bit too similar to SS. Just my opinion......

I'm 43, since I was a kid growing up in the 80s I have loved the blues TT. Solid gold has its appeal but not at current prices. Personally RG looks older to me. I do like WG, but again not crazy on the price.

I tend to see this question from another angle. I'm a retired Rolex Authorized Dealer, but I'm also a journeyman goldsmith and platinumsmith.

White gold is horrible to work. I'm an old, old man now and, because of serious congestive heart failure, I'm not far from the grave ... and if I NEVER have to work white gold again, it'll be too damned soon.

Rose gold works wonderfully, takes a terrific polish and laps beautifully.

Yellow gold is even finer than rose and I personally think of it as "The Queen of Metals."

Given one precious metal to work until the gravedigger has his way with me, it would be Portuguese yellow gold.

I pray you all have a Blessed Easter,

Steve

And what does that matter then? My statement is that there is a difference if they open their eyes. You must be the one of the one's that can't tell a difference.

One twist on these metal options is bronze. I absolutely love the matte yellow gold look of non patina bronze. Since it’s matte it also attracts inquisitive eyes.

the younger crowd tends to favor yg/rg and women seem to favor rose. prefer yg myself when it comes to rolex

This woman prefers the yellow gold. It’s more dramatic. The rose gold Rolex uses just does not appeal to me. It just doesn’t pop. All of my other jewelry is white gold, and, in general, I prefer SS watches. Go figure….

Devildog's WG with blue dial daytona, YG with green dial daytona, and RG sky dweller with chocolate dial are all perfect combos to me. I'd have to see the model, dial, etc to make a choice. The model and color combo mean much more than the gold alloy used. I've never thought about purchasing a watch with just the type of gold in mind. There are watches in WG, YG, and RG that I love.

I just ditched the last of my yellow gold watches.

Previously ditched platinum, rose and white.

Nothing wrong with precious metals, and they feel great, but I just don't care anymore and I've been moving towards simplistic designs and the robustness of stainless steel.

Yes, of course. Since I have so many SS watches, I chose white gold for my wedding jewelry. It matches better. I always wear a solid yellow gold Miraculous medal, on a gold chain, around my neck, though.

I think this question is more difficult to answer because it is not enough to say what kind of PM the watch is made of. I had a shiny polished YG, but I don't like that shiny color on a watch anymore. However, I once tried a Daytona YG and was surprised because it looked completely different since it was not polished to a high gloss. From this point of view, let me recommend taking into consideration the appearance of the Omega moonshine YG, or the red gold watches that have not been mentioned so far.

Also, I think the point of the WG and platinum models is precisely that they don't want to show off their value. Those who understand it's rarity will admire, those one who don't: Who cares?
