doesn't necessarily mean they don't notice though. most people just don't say anything, that's completely different from not noticing

Agree with this. Most people know about Rolex even if not into watches. You can wear other brands and, even if more expensive, very few will notice. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Under the radar Rolex?
Quote:
Yes. Most people know about Rolex. That is true. But whether or not they can identify one in public is a completely different thing altogether. I’m not so sure the average person can pick one out even if it’s right in front of their face. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What line of work?
I also share some of your concerns. My wife doesn't seem to care. She sells new construction, I am in the adult beverage industry. I rarely where my Rolex to meetings, opting for a Tag, Breitling or Tudor. She drives a Mercedes E class, and I think it is an over stated car and wouldn't want her to go any higher due to what it projects. I know it's silly, just how I feel. On the flipside, we live in a sensible home and decided to spend our money on travel and other things that we enjoy. It really should be no ones business, but people do judge. To answer your question, an Explorer I or II would fit the bill. Especially a black Explorer II |

A Rolex without shiny surfaces might be less noticeable … PCL’s, jubilees, flutted bezels etc may draw the eye more than those that have brushed bracelets and down low colors.
I think the new YM Ti is pretty low key, as well as the EXP, a black dial OP … something along those lines. |

There is no under the radar Rolex and it will absolutely make an impression on some people… sometimes positive, sometimes negative. There’s no getting around it.

[QUOTE=padi56;13282199]Why is it not true been wearing Rolex watches longer than many have been alive on forum. And wearing them world wide for over 50 years, yet you could count on one hand, the number of people that have remarked on a Rolex or any watch I was wearing.[/QUOTE

I work in a hospital and rock every single piece I have
But now I’m getting a Day date and it’s giving me pause for some odd reason as even the most highly compensated physicians don’t wear flashy pieces like that |

The Explorer 36 is what I reach for when I want something a bit more discreet. A black OP or other similar piece would also work

I find the 116519 very low key- as about as low key as they come. I would - and have- worn that thing anywhere and everywhere.
The percentage of the population that knows what a Rolex is and looks like has, for the most part, no clue there's such a thing as a Rolex rubber strap ...so I would look no further than that. |

WG DD is invisible
Quote:
Even spending a long time in close proximity to people, the vast majority do not notice. I was visiting friends (and staying at their house) and on the 3rd day, the conversation somehow led to watches and Rolex came up. They asked if I had one, even though it had been on my wrist the whole time. I was wearing a T shirt. This is exactly why I went for WG instead of YG or RG: It's damn near invisible to the majority of people. I suspect the YG/RG would be much more recognized, or any model that is blinged out. |

I am in a similar situation. For work, my G shock, seiko 5 or Reverso gets most wrist time.
I sometimes think about building ‘2 watch collections’. One with my luxury watches. And another with more under the radar or cheap options. SARB 033/035 G shock Reverso If going with a Rolex, explorer 1. But then when someone asks you what it is and you say the word Rolex, game over.

As others have said, I think the best one for "under the radar" would be an OP in 36mm. I don't even think the dial would matter. I have a 34 in green and people only notice it when it's in their hands. People always say something since green isn't all that common.
I don't work in an industry where I have to worry about customers, but I do travel a lot. Under the radar, relatively inexpensive and easy to replace are considerations. |

I would agree with the others that mentioned an explorer. I’ve had maybe a handful of people ever notice an explorer. Tudor might be another great option if you want something low key.

Every physician knows - the DD's are for clinical days. Steel sports are for hospital rounds

I'd consider another brand, You've got a solid Rolex collection.
Maybe Omega, IWC, JLC, Tudor are just a few to explore. |

I disagree. Middle class people are aware of Rolex, especially black sub dates, and any Datejust with a fluted bezel. That bezel and the cyclops are quintessential Rolex. Before becoming a “watch nerd”, I was certainly well aware of Rolex, and could identify one. Kat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

To be honest, nobody notices my ND SubC and that is a synonym for Rolex, isn't it?
So, if pushed for under the rader + rolex in the same sentence, I'd say OP, Exp1 or Exp2 is the most under the radar you can go. |
