Actually, the ADs have to buy it all from Rolex. It is a cost of doing business from the AD's perspective. The better stuff only goes with high dollar sales, as to be expected.

That’s a strange question. No, why would they? I’m just one of thousands of members here. I think that’s just the way this AD does business.

Probably a merch collector! You can buy all that stuff on eBay.

Only "merch" I'd be interested in having are consumables like chocolates or candies. I've gotten hats, pens, pocket knives, gloves, wallets, etc. They just sit in a box with the other spoils of watch purchasing I've gathered. Give me some chocolates and we won't have issues with clutter!

Talking of merch

Has anyone received the latest issue of the Rolex magazine that was released at W&W? Or are the rumours true that they wont be printing and distributing them from now on?

It really comes down to the specific AD.

Some AD's hand out extra's to regular clientele, and some reserve them for their "VIP" clients who have very large spend histories.

I have noticed that the chances of being offered something extra increases if buying a precious metal watch rather that stainless steel, or maybe it's just due to a larger purchase price.

Also some people have success with simply asking for something extra at the time of purchase, but this can be kind of awkward.

What it really comes down to is the specific AD you shop at, and their managerial polices so it's going to differentiate for everyone here, and you'll see a large range of answers.

None of the five ADs I've purchased from over the last nealry 30 years has given me anything beyond the magazine, and a beverage.

To quote Judge Smails talking to Spalding: "You'll get nothing, and like it!"

I just ask if they have any cool merch when I buy a watch. Have received 2 hats, a pen, and a large umbrella.

Apologies for the odd question. I am on some auto sites where dealers follow closely and know members who contribute (and treat them differently). Was wondering if your presence here had an impact.

Fourth and fifth each came with an AD branded plastic kit that had a pen, polishing cloth, and single travel case.
Have also attended several new releases trunk shows and got a goodie bag at each.

PS: I can’t see me wearing a Rolex branded cap or other apparel item. A little too “hey look at me!”

Yeah, I'd only consider wearing a Rolex cap if I'm attending the U.S. Open or F-1 event.

Very nice. I was eyeing on that watch roll recently. How does it hold up? Do the watches stay in place since there are no dividers?

In your defense, I do stand out, as one of only a handful of contributing female members. I really think my husband and I just made a good impression from the start, and so have been treated very well. My John is very handsome and charming.

I've heard that some ADs throw in a complimentary steering wheel.

Ok, I may try that. If you don't ask, it's a 'no'.
