This. I’d go non Flat 4, save a bunch of cash, and enjoy the hell out of, arguably, the best Submariner in the last 20 years.

What its worth is what someone is willing to pay, and afraid today that's why many inserts are replicated, speaking for myself would never pay crazy money for any 16610lV no matter the insert font .

Nope.

Mine has sat in a safe for 15 plus years.
It was basically unworn NOS condition.
I toyed with the idea of selling it recently but no takers at £17k so thought stuff it, I’ll wear and enjoy it instead.
Love it and won’t be selling anytime soon.

More room to fall, IMO.

Dealer holding for 24hrs? Hahahaha, creating false demand much? You're probably his only bite on the watch. Not many people are queueing up for pieces like this for that money right now.

It’s a great watch, truly the best of the neovintage/5-digit era… but I’d stick to a pointy-4 and wear it regularly (even get two for that price!).

Buying a watch, especially a rare and stunning one like the 2003 Kermit Flat 4, is a decision that balances emotion and practicality, you could try negotiating a better price or take some time to think it over before committing. Ultimately, it's about balancing your passion for the watch with its value proposition in your collection.

Pass.

I love the Kermit but the Flat 4 is not rare and paying double for a minor font variant is silly.

What’s crazy is a non flat four at a fraction of the cost, can get scratched, sent to RSC for replacement and come back with a flat 4.
Has happened.

Exactly. I take this as evidence of the flat 4’s non-importance.

It’s a watch you need to be very careful with. But you probably already know that. Gorgeous though.

Dang, that’s a lot of cheese.

I had no idea these “flat 4s” were fetching so much.

For that kind of money I’d rather have a full pm Sub.

Or a used Porsche Boxster lol.

I don’t think they are. Prices have come down substantially on the Flat 4s. They pop up under 20k with some regularity.

As others have noted that is at least 10K over market. The thing about the flat 4 bezel is that Rolex doesn't recognize it as a "thing". So if you ever trash the bezel and want to replace it, the odds are good you won't get a flat 4 back.

Is it a CPO watch? Meaning does it come with a Rolex warranty? In that case it worth a bit more, but that price seems higher than I would like to pay. But there will always be that hype to a collector. But if you were ever in a position that you wanted to sell it out of necessity or just because……. You would have to wait for a collector to buy it from you to get your ROI. If not you would take a loss.

If your not looking at the watch as an investment and will wear it cause you love it, then if you want it and don’t have to go into debt for it, then by all means….. get it!!!! I have one (pointy 4) and love mine. I thought I paid a lot for mine, so it’s all relative… I paid $7k in 2011 with stickers still on. Took them off and wore the snot out of it. Now it hardly gets time on the wrist as I have gravitated towards my Polar Exp I recently picked up at Fourtane in Carmel in March. As the Polar Dial is easily read compared to any black face or JC dial that I have as my eyes are aging!!! lol

Just think what you can get for 28k. You could get a new Daytona on OF. You could get the new LV and SS GMT and money left over for an OP or something. That price is insane.

Why ask? If you like it, negotiate down the price and buy it.

I love my recently purchased pointy 4 LV, I think it could be my favourite watch ever. I would only pay the premium for the flat 4 if I was an avid collector who was really careful with their watches - alas, I am not!

Love mine

28k for a mass produced SS Sub? That’s a crazy valuation based mostly on its condition.
Wear it once, worth 10k less.
Watches are made to be worn……
