I'm unclear on what you mean by changing their policy. I'm explaining the policy for the person reporting a stolen watch.

What your Dad experienced is the other side of the story - the Rolex policy for a person who submits a watch to the RSC that had been reported stolen.

I think there must have been a loose screw, or a pin was not properly fixed in its retainer hole.

Happens to me as well already 2 times that the screw was coming off the bracelet. Its quite important to check that every time you wash your watch.
