I greatly appreciate all of your responses and want to hear more. I must apologize as I failed to include that I am retiring and plan to live abroad permanently I will spend at least a year in southeast Asia who knows where I will set down roots. I do understand the risk associated with the appearance of having more than others. I also agree the guy that says wear it and enjoy because you cannot take it with you. The watches will be the only thing of any significant value that I will have. Keep the comments coming this really helps me make the best decision.

I failed to mention that I am retiring and living abroad permanently. I will start in southeast Asia and plan to move to visit and consider other country's as well. The watches are the only items of much value I am concerned about and I do plan to go to local customs to get proof and documentation of these items if ever returning to US (to avoid customs fees). I also appreciate the guy stating wear them now as you cannot take them with you. I do understand the risk associated with the appearance of more. Please continue to provide your comments as I consider them invaluable and thanks.

Just take one,usually put it on a rubber strap.the rubber strap allows me to use the watch while been active and on rubber most people never really know it is a Rolex.

OK all. How many “Should I…” threads do we see versus “my watch got stolen on vacation….” threads? The ratio is pretty low. Why? Anyone with travel smarts will say the same thing. Know your spot and know your audience. I have no problem wearing any of my watches in the right place at the right time.
If you want to party until the sun comes up in Cancun (insert any tourist hotspot here), then best to wear your beater.

1 - Is it really necessary to bring your Rolex watch?
2 - Can you afford to lose your watch on your trip or get robbed of it in a foreign country?

Once onboard they go in the safe. Never had a moment of concern even if I've left one out on the table whilst we go out for the day. Get to know your cabin steward, as he will be there for the duration.

The robbing from hotels/cabins safes etc is vastly overplayed. (not that it doesn't happen of course) IMHO.

If you plan to take many then photo them all and send the pictures via email to yourself so you can quickly datestamp prove they were personal belongings prior to travelling.

I either just bring the one watch I want to wear or I wear a nice watch and bring a "beater" or a micro in a sock or pouch in my carryon. I never travel with more than one luxury timepiece. I don't need that kind of stress.

Same for me, never more than one nice watch - Sub/GMT2/Exp2 on the wrist, Casio/Scurfa + AppleWatch in my carryon. Just don't want the stress. Depending where I'm going might not even bring a "nice" watch.

My best advice. Don't post any travel plans online anywhere. Just go, enjoy the trip. Post any photos well after you are home for a few weeks.

This is so dumb. These are watches, not your kids. What's the point of bringing more than one? Are YOU travelling? Or are your watches travelling? Are you going to worry sick for the watch/es that you leave home? If you have to ask for opinions in a forum then you are already doing it wrong.

I brought 2 ( DSSD and Batman) when we went to Bali about 4 years ago...
ofc we stayed at a nice hotel but I left in room safe box...
and we left to go to smaller city like Medan but we stayed at nephew place ...

that being said, I would travel with just one where you wear it all the time...]just cannot risk it

I wore a Moonswatch in Paris for the past week. I look like a tourist, so that’s why. I saw plenty of nice Chanel and LV bags. A few Subs. One AP RO chrono. The modal watch is an Apple Watch. I felt better with a Moonswatch on the trip.

Mostly a one watch guy here, but occasionally a trip requires multiple in which I use Watchpod cases for storage.

I travel with one Rolex 124060 insured with pics of bill of sale and insurance policy on my iPhone... never been questioned at customs....

I do appreciate the comments and personal suggestions. For those saying my asking for wisdom when traveling with valuables is (dumb) is really uncalled for. If you do not like my question feel free not to comment. Please if you do not have a respectful response , don't. Again thanks to the others for your responses particularly the suggestion to get your valuables documented through customs so when returning there is no issue with Fees or taxes or declaring items. Another point is I am planning to live abroad forever and these watches are the only valuable items I am taking with me and yes I understand there us a risk just hoping to find some wisdom from well traveled watch enthusiast.

Understanding that, I take a few.

Several are going with me tomorrow. I am prepared to deal with loss if it occurs.

The one place I would not take a bunch is Barcelona during summer. I look like a tourist and they would relieve me of my watch in short order, wearing short sleeves. I went there and wore no watch. I guess I can survive without a watch. LOL

agreed! If you're asking, then you already know the answer. Leave your baby at home.

who cares what other people's opinons are. You're the one that's traveling with it. If you're brave enough, bring it. If you're 2nd guessing, leave it at home. We're not the ones that will save you when you get robbed.

I only travel with one and just keep it on 24/7. Usually an older explorer as well which is a bit more under the radar.

Usually travel with just the 1 watch I'm wearing. I've on occasion traveled with 2.
