You may want to revisit this answer lol OP- Do it. You basically answered your own question. You haven’t worn the Sub in quite a while, and that piece can always be re-added with ease if/when you want it back. The EW is special and would make an excellent addition to your already great Speedmaster collection. Sláinte. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ed white 321 is a special watch. But I’d say cash difference is a little high by around £1k
But if you’re not wearing the submariner then go for it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Exactly. Amazes me that some say the Submariner is iconic, and dismiss the 321. OP I agree you should add a 321, but only if you have at least one Rolex first. You should know the 321 is at a different level above the Sub as there is no comparison, but at least one Rolex is a must in any collection.

Absolutely crazy to advise someone to pass on an amazing watch to keep a watch he doesn’t wear…

I think maybe people don’t what the 321 is. There were people up thread saying that you could get it at a discount, which makes me think they don’t know what they are talking about. |

100% a lot don't know anything about the 321, they just hear Speedmaster which is actually iconic even as a standard model even more than a Sub. Some think a Rolex logo on any watch will make it a special watch. Some don't know or try to forget that 6 years ago gold Rolex can be bought from ADs for 25-30% discount, and even a sought after Hulk Submariner could be had at 15% discount. Getting a watch at discount or at less than retail has nothing to do with how special the watch is. Just wait until Omega stops producing the 321 and check prices after 5 plus years and you will see people lusting over it.

I don’t know about the financial aspects of the trade, but I know I’d rather have a 321 “Ed White” over an LN Submariner Date.

321 is much more collectible watch and really an unique watch.
As much as I love Rolex I would do this trade 8/10. The sub is also iconic but easy to get and an every man’s watch (don’t get me wrong). But might be biased - picking up mit Speedy Pro Daniel Craig today :b Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk Pro |

For me personally it’s a bit speedy heavy to have that many in a small collection but it also speaks to the fact that you know exactly what you’re getting into. I would go for it.

Trade submariner for speedmaster 321
Quote:
Submariner and Speedmaster are my two favorite watches. So, somehow, I’d still want a Submariner with this transaction. But based on what the OP is saying, he should make the trade. He seems to value Speedmasters more, and that’s great. To each his own. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would aim to own both. If I had to chose I'd have the Omega but I wouldn't trade a Sub for one. It doesn't look like a particularly good deal but I'm not expert.

Both should exist in a collection.
I would just add it whenever possible. |

Which watch appeals the most?
I like a Speedmaster, mine is a 1861 variant but if I wanted another it would have to be the 321 modern edition, if I win the lottery the platinum version. But its all about you, both are iconic but in very different ways, which will suit you best long term.

You've two speedmasters and you'd trade the Sub for third speedmaster?
You really like Speedmasters. |

Worst case is you trade the 321 later on for the Sub if you want a redo. |

Not a big fan of speedy and find the sub boring. So I guess I shouldn’t share my opinion… but I will.
Trade the sub or trade one of your other speedy’s - not much difference to me. I know what I’d do, however. Swap the sub for an Omega PO + cash, trade the Speedy 50th + (cash from the sub to PO swap above) for your 321. Unlock cash and end up with the superior diver and the superior speedy. |

Ed White i'd trade for a sub. But then I sold my no-date years ago cos I just find subs boring.
The Ed White is a serious watch. Its all about those non-twisted lugs, it looks incredible in the flesh, really sets it apart from the Speedy Pro |

Don't sell the Sub.
Adding is the only option in this scenario. |

I’m a big Speedmaster fan, but I think the 321 is a little overrated. Sorry. I’d rather have the regular moon watch.

Why not...
I don't like that Submariner reference ... for aesthetics, caliber, size. I would like to have a Sub and then I would buy a 16610 / 5513 / 14060 / 16610LV ....... |

The 321 EW will be the best watch in your collection.

Having time to digest the thread after a long flight back from EU.
That EW 321 is a reference. It sounds to me like you really like the Speedmaster line and You’re not really interested in dive watches, so I understand the trade. For those who think that the submariner is boring, I don’t get that part. What’s an “exciting” watch? Put any watch on your wrist for an extended period of time and it’s going to get boring. That’s why we have several in our collection. |
