I wouldn't trade my BLRO for anything. You should do what best suits you.

No from me.
I’m biased as I own these two references and they are my favorite modern Rolex watches. If at all possible, I’d add the AP and see how it fits with your collection and lifestyle |

I would not do it. The sum of two is greater than the one in wear for me. The money is close but not for the AP.

I would do it in a second. Very difficult to get AP (at least for me). I can always pick up those two rolex quite easily. Comes down to what you like, and difficulty in replacing what you give up.

Heck, I wouldn’t take the RO over the BLRO by itself.
An iconic dive and travel watch combo for a RO? No way for me. |

If you can turn these two to trade up to something you may not want to or don’t have the cash on hand to purchase - I would do it. Then in due time if you want you could get back into the Sub - and a GMT II variant, if not the Pepsi again.
My guess is that after you do it you will love the AP and also long for the Rolex you had. Similar situation with guitars - always rotating through stuff. |

No, I certainly would not trade your two Rolexes (or any Rolex for that matter) for any AP RO. I´ve never been a fan of Gerald Genta designed watches, and have never understood the fuss over AP ROs. Just my personal opinion. Don´t do it!

Own a BLRO and previously owned a man AP RO.
Brand status aside, i prefer Rolex. It’s a nicer watch simply. I would keep your BLNR abs if you want to scratch the Holy Trinty itch sell your sub against a VC overseas (which I have also owned and sold and preferred to Royal Oak) or or trade sub against a dress watch Lange 1815. But whatever you do keep the Pepsi Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would not trade the BLRO but move the Sub and find money elsewhere to do the trade. If that's not possible I would sit tight.

No way. Not for a 37 or a 41mm RO.
I would for a 39mm RO though...but you'd be adding a lot of money, and for good reason. 39 is the sweet spot. |

I really wish ap were more robust. Personally I’d want to keep at least one rolex. You can’t beat the shock protection, WR and excellen quality at the msrp price.

Not me, not even for one.
Other than their beautiful bracelets there is not much interesting in my eyes about any AP.

I have both a Pepsi jubilee and a 38mm AP RO chrono (“ROC”). I have a very small wrist also so I needed the 37mm Royal Oak or the 38mm ROC. At one point, I also had the 12 series no date submariner. I sold the submariner because, as others have correctly stated, the Pepsi is basically a submariner with a different bezel and additional hand. I found them too similar and redundant. I like to have as few watches in the collection as possible and I find the Pepsi to be my wear-anywhere-do-anything watch while the ROC is my work/going out watch that does not see abuse or water and is never in an environment where it can be subjected to harsh wear.
Let’s discuss the benefits and burdens of the Royal Oak. It’s an absolutely beautiful watch. The quality and workmanship is incredible and not, in any way, comparable to Rolex. The bracelet fits my small wrist perfectly and shines like nothing Rolex has ever produced. The mix of brushed and high polished finishing is materially better than any finishing I have seen on a Rolex. The level of detail and finishing on the AP’s dial is worlds ahead of Rolex. Theres a reason any AP boutique gives you a loupe to admire the details on their watches whereas you would never want to take a loupe to a Pepsi. On the other hand, the Royal Oak is extremely delicate. The case and bracelet scratch very easily and show wear much faster than the Pepsi/Submariner. The power reserve, at least on my ROC, is awful (about 48 hours) when compared to my Pepsi. The crown doesn’t work as well the Rolex crown to the extent the ROC crown is hard to close after winding and when returning the crown from the time-setting position to either the winding position or closing position, often causes the minute hand to jump slightly making setting the time with absolute precision hard (notwithstanding the non hacking seconds hand on the ROC). In this regard, the ROC feels more like a piece of jewelry as opposed to the Pepsi that feels like a tool watch. With all that out of the way, I will answer your question—is a trade of both your submariner and your Pepsi for the 37mm AP Royal Oak a good trade? From a purely monetary perspective, the answer is yes. The Sub/Pepsi combo would get you around $30,000 in today’s market. In that regard, you are making $3,000 dollars on this trade. From a utility perspective, and assuming the Royal Oak will be your only watch after the trade, the answer is no, I would not make this trade. You are losing the daily versatility and ruggedness of the Rolex. What will you wear when you go on vacation/holiday? What will you wear when you take your kids to play outside or give your dog a bath? What will you wear when you want to wear a watch but don’t want the attention associated with a shiny Royal Oak? As you can see, your question is impossible to answer without more information (i.e., what other watches are in the collection, will you be wearing this watch every day, what do you do for work, what do you do outside of work, are you an active and adventurous person who is often mountain biking, hiking, and skiing or do you favor simpler pleasures like enjoying wineries and museums). I hope this is helpful, but it’s also ok if you don’t want to do a full analysis as suggested above but rather simply want the Royal Oak because it’s a beautiful watch and in order to buy it you need to trade the two Rolex. No wrong answer here. In fact, although I’m quite critical and analytical by nature, I generally take the more emotional approach to adding watches to my collection—if I love the watch, I either buy it or trade something for it and I don’t really worry about the consequences of how the watch fits into my collection and daily life.

I would not. That’s a great pair you have. I would much rather have those 2.
I like APs a lot. I just can’t wrap my head around the pricing on them. I don’t think 2 great watches for one that even though market value is higher may be a lesser watch IMO.

I would not do that trade. I have the BLRO and it is my favorite SS watch. I recently sold my 15450. I did really like the AP but wasn't getting much wrist time so moved on. If you have the funds, sell the Sub and get the AP

Yes. I did a similar trade a few months ago for a mint 15450. Don’t regret it at all.

Would you trade Pepsi/Sub for AP 15550ST?
Great response above and fantastic chrono. I agree that a Pepsi on oyster makes for a magnificent daily …. I’d trade the Daytona and sub of it was my wrist, although if the OP was wearing the Daytona as a daily wear piece I’d keep that one and sell the other two. Keep one of the three Rolex as a daily and add the RO. ..Explorer, Spring Diver & APRO.. |

Nope, but mainly because I don't like the AP style.
