Then you are looking at the wrong sellers. Some are still delusional enough to have 2020 and 2021 asking prices which are just that. Transaction prices are totally different. Market is dead right now. Most sellers aren't even buying any new watches and if they do it will be below retail.

I ended up buying the white gold Sub and traded my Pepsi/Explorer to do so. It was my ultimate grail but I didn’t think it was achievable until this huge crash. It’s my most worn watch.

Just depends on what you like though. You can build a collection with the same budget.

I really like the YM40 OF too. You could buy a steel Daytona too, which you’d still be paying way over list for.

If I were given $30k cash, and told I had to spend it on one watch, I’d find the nicest 36mm platinum DD (older style with smooth bezel) and the platinum-only ice blue dial.

30k budget with falling prices

AP RO at $30k would be a stretch. A Vacheron Overseas would be a better priced option.

Just over 30K for new retail APRO if I remember correctly….. and still well over for used current models , even with falling prices.

But yes

I chose the RO instead of the PM Rolex,
But I can’t say I don’t look at photos like this one and wonder about the other options.

..Explorer, Spring Diver & APRO..

Prices are holding strong on Rolex steel sports. I would not wait if you can afford the one you want now on the used market. Prices could start going back up into the fall.

Looks great on you!

I’d like to add a RO at some point.
