in most health systems, the staff do not report to the doctor, they report to administrators. The doctors are employees too. It often isnt his or her "staff". Second issue that ive seen, is that the turnover is significant, so it doesnt really matter if you stay or leave due to staff, since they might be new next time. Best thing to do, in my opinion, is to write a short letter to the administrator or manager of the area. Could let the doctor know, as a courtesy. If you dont like the doctor, whole differetn story.

Yes, it doesn’t seem as if there are any independents anymore. They all seem to be affiliated with a local hospital system nowadays.

If possible two places to stay out of in life are hospitals and courts.

Sam, completely agree.
From first hand experience, administrator did not like the valid complaint, and instead of trying to correct the situation, banned the patient from the medical service. They just don't care.
Doctors & staff are so overworked in these demanding corporate medical settings (shareholder pressure), and especially now with the stratospheric drain of resources covering the overwhelming uninsured bloating every medical venue, its not going to get any better soon.

Hmm I actually have stopped going to a particular Doctor’s office because of incompetent MAs. Nowadays, I just text him what I need and avoid the office visit altogether.

Come to think of it, I almost left my own office because of incompetent MAs. Ohh wait I did.

Yes, twice. Rude/incompetent admin who were not passing messages to/from me/doctor and the company had no direct message portal to the doctor. Also billing staff not seeking pre approval on for something months out even though I was on the standby list. And then getting denied at the last minute with no time for doctor appeal, and getting sent to the end of the scheduling line. They also wouldnt refer any testing externally which also made this even worse.

I honestly think this ophthalmologist's practice (there are four ophthalmologists and two optometrists) is run by the doctors and not by a big medical corporation. At any rate...

The delay continues. I still haven't received the e-mail from the surgical coordinator. I have decided to wait until I receive it to notify that office that I will not be having my cataract surgery done by them. I want to see how long it takes for that woman to send me the paperwork, so I can include that in my dissertation as to why I am not continuing with them.

You are investing a lot of energy into getting even with the admin staff. Simply ask for your records to be transferred to the new doctor and cancel all your appointments. If they don't have time for you now, they certainly won't care about a dissertation from a disgruntled former customer.

Unfortunately, it is what it is with medical care in most places. They all seem to be overloaded with patients and if a patient is unhappy with anything, they will be quickly told to look elsewhere for care.

I’m not trying to “get even” with anyone. And I don’t need any records to be transferred because the only thing I have had done there is an exam/evaluation for cataract surgery, and the ophthalmologist who will be doing the surgery will do his own exam/evaluation.

And for the record, it was on August 1st that I was told the information and paperwork would be e-mailed to me by the next morning. Then on August 20th, the woman gave me her word that she would e-mail it no later than first thing the next morning. Then, one week ago (September 10th), she called me and said she was e-mailing it that day. She still hasn’t sent it.

Make an appointment at a different practice. But I think you knew that.
