The screw down pusher is basically just an O ring which is different from the Rolex crown designs. What anybody can surmise about the screw down pushers is when they are fully screwed down, they create a metallic shell over the seals of the pushers resulting in less water pressure directly on the seals and reduced water intrusion should the seals fail. While the underlying seals in the pushers may by themselves protect up to 100 WR, Rolex, apparently is not comfortable having these seals directly exposed to the WR.
Closing the ‘metallic shell’ as you have put it would not reduce the water pressure on the internal pusher seals.
Isn’t the seal an “o” ring on the pusher stem Bas?

Edit.
I have rechecked the schematic of the Daytona screw down cap and it does show a cap seal when screwed down.
But I am still not sure if it increases the pressure resistance as it is only a finger tight cap.

Well some time back it was posted on forum that the pushers have been pushed and activated at 30m by a French diving team. And the pushers fully unscrewed at 60m with no problem, but I would advice not to use unscrewed and activate at depths over 10m fresh or salt water.

I always used the chrono hand as a seconds hand. I find it aesthetically more pleasing. It costs maybe a bit more power reserve but I have an active enough lifestyle that when i wore them for multiple days it never stopped.
