He's doing a poll to get an idea of what he should tell someone else to buy him?!?!

It would appear as though all the posts are in the "spirit" intended.

It is to be given as a "gift", perhaps Gabriel and his Dad should go to the Ad and simply pick it out.

Some of the responses have hardly covered the posters with glory.

A submariner is a classic that will last for years, it looks good on young people as well as old. You will always have a memento of your parents for the rest of your life, that you will be able to look back on.

Tough Crowd.

Get which ever piece is truly calling you, if its an AK, go for it...IF its really a DD then carefully consider what it means to wear a DD as a 16 years old. Im not implying that wearing one at age 16 is bad, but, where do you go from there? Masterpiece encrusted with diamonds?

I received my maternal grandfathers 1967 Breitling when I was a teenager, and my father gave me a Movado for College graduation, mom gave me a Cartier tank Solo a few years ago for xmas and she bought me my first Rolex. I feel very blessed to have received all of these pieces and care for them accordingly.

Receiving a watch, in many cultures, is a right of passage from boy/girl to man/woman, it is a symbol to be treasured and taken seriously...after all im assume you would NEVER get rid of this piece.

Of your choices you should get the classic Subbie.

When I was 16 I really wanted an Explorer I. Those National Geographic ads really got to me!

So what you are saying is anyone who posts who can't afford a Rolex and is being given one as a gift is deserving of ridicule?

There is one poster here who has not seen fit to apologize for his "spoiled rotten" post. He will have an opportunity to do so if he wishes to continue to post here. Any more untoward and unwarranted personal jibes at people you do not know will be taken very seriously.

And this thread will get back on it's original track, with the OP being treated with the respect he deserves, or the thread will be shut down.

I voted S/S Sub, but if you wait till this time on 2010 you can insist on the Cerachrome 116610 version. Now that would be cool.

It may even be of the Red version, minus the polished links of course.

You have two choices.

1) Get whatever you want
2) Take whatever your dad picks

I have no idea what you want.

And it may be just me, but I'd sure rather have a car for my 16th than a watch (if given the option).

I would love it if Rolex made a ceramic red sub...even with the polished center links...

Chopped, my prediction of when we shall see the 116610 Sub is late summer to early fall.

Well I'm spoiled rotten then, I'm not the only 15 yr old kid here that has a Rolex! Kyle L has a Explorer I, a Schumacher Omega, A Tag Heuer, and much more! I have a 3rd hand Rolex! And I'm proud of being spoiled rotten! I'm sorry if this offended you but I'm just looking for advice! My dad offered me to buy me one for my 16th B-day.
Quoting JJ, "How the hell did I get dragged into this?"
Anyway, you are very lucky. My parents would never buy me a Rolex, they said I would have to save up my money, and I don't think I will have enough money anytime soon. Choose what you like, and let us know your choice!

Get a new sub. It may be the last one of it's type before it gets changed to ceramic.

Jees you don't know the guys background, how do you all not know that his parents buys diamond encrusted collars for his dogs!!! A rolex might just be a drop in the ocean for them, like my Dad buying me a Timex.
Well, my dad told me to start browsing since now so he can start saving. Unlike some people here, he doesn't drive a Mercedes, or a BMW or even a Lexus! My dad drives a 1998 Chevy Lumina that is falling apart! I don't live in a billion-kajillion dollar house. My dad is 70 yrs old and he wants to give me something so when he departs this world, I can look at that and proudly say "This was given by my great dad". He told me "I want to do this because I dont now how much time I have left with you" I dont care if he buys me a $20 Timex. What is important is the sentimental feeling toward to it.

Thanks to all of you that has given me positive attitude! it is greatly appreciated!

God Bless!

I have since decided that a Rolex is NOT something to give to someone. (my opinion)

Any of the aforementioned children will have a much greater appreciation of such things if they acquire them on their own.
Well that's your opinion!

Honestly, I don't know you. I can tell you this, take the cheapest one that will make you happy. An Air king or a used sub and tell your dad to put the rest in savings for a rainy day.

I got a Tag when I was 20. My brother bought it for me and even though I barely wear it I will never part with it, unless it was going to a family member... and even then I'm not so sure about. What it means is worlds above what it's worth, keep that in mind.

I will say this. A watch has to be the ultimate gift because you wear it so often. I'm sure you won't remember that xbox 360 you got in a few years. :)

Ladies & gentlemen,

I give this post from Scott a perfect 10!!

To Gabriel.......Scott is right. Just go with your dad to the AD, pick out the very watch that YOU like and then just take it from there.

Conversely, a car wouldn't be a bad idea for a kid of your age.

Either way, good luck, my friend.

Best wishes - JJ

Hey Gabriel I was not knocking you or your family...Far from it, I was trying to get across to the people that gave the rude replies that they didn't know if your family were multi millionaires or not. And you do not need to justify yourself on here to anyone. And Just because of your age I didn't think it warranted the replies. I hope you get a decent watch that you can look back on in years to come (as I have already said in a reply).
I too have a watch that my parents put a lot of money towards for a belated 40th, which I think makes the watch a bit more special.

Really? I must have missed that.

I got my kid a sweater.

When he gets a job he can buy his own Rolex.
