I'm not a fan of the LV, so I would wait for the new Ceramic Sub for sure.

I voted Sub LV, I have a feeling that when the 116610 comes out Rolex will NO longer produce the LV Sub, just my opinion.

Hey Mike I like your taste.

Can't agree more!

Get the Sub LV now and leave the new upcoming sub in the waiting list.

I have an M serial LV, the green is more lime than the dark green. I've only had it 5 days, but I'll say that I love it and I've already gotten several compliments; most people seem to really love the green!

[QUOTE=JJ Irani;1408808]Good question, but I'd shoot myself through my head before I do that!! [/QUOTE

I would do the same, I will x2 that one JJ.

On to your question, I would get what you want now. I own an LV and love it. I must say it is the most confortable Rolex I own, you forget that its on. My GMT has the "new" case and it is a much bulkier watch, still great but different. Get the current sub now and if the new one comes out in a year or so, you can always sellthe current and get the new but I bet you keep the current as you will fall in love with it.
Good Luck,

9.will be "in style".Will be the in style for who, its only a ceramic bezel etc.

10.won't be "the old version" for the next 10-20-30 years.Well basically the present sub has changed very little over the last 20 years would expect if they bring a ceramic out it will be the same. And if they do bring out a ceramic version,it will be far more expensive and would doubt if it will be at ADs until 2010/11.

11.Bi-directional bezel with YM spring.Well a Bi-directional bezel would be of little use in a diving watch
As its a diving watch you want uni-directional as it is now on all the Rolex diving watches.
Thank you for saving me all that typing on my keyboard and you covered much more then I would have.

I hate to be greedy, but I would like to have both!!!!!!
The LV as posted with Black insert is killer and I do like the upgrades made to the newer Sub style as well,so I just might need both!!!!...

My GMTIIc in SS does feel heavier than my F series TT sub. That said, I love the black ceramic bezel with the black dial on my GMT.

One of the things that is great about Rolex is that over all these years, the changes/improvements have been subtle which helps to hold value. The green insert on the LV is not my favorite shade of green but, as many have said, they love theirs and get compliments. And, as you said, you can always remove the green insert and add the black one and the black on black is a classic look in my opinion. My thought is to buy now. I think you will be very happy to have it on your wrist. Try on the GMT, just for size and feel of the new style case. Then, put on the sub and go from there. The choice has to be what you like, not what we like.

I'd buy the LV now, and wait for the frenzy to buy the new sub to subside and then upgrade to the new sub. Hopefully waiting would insulate me from the inevitable crazy pricing that would ensue after a model is announced at Basel.

These are sound answers I thought about similar things before I bought my LV. The new Subs are basically GMT's in my mind. The LV is in a totally different ballpark for me.

Sub LV, no question. You can always get the other sub later. May as well enjoy the Sub LV now. Plus, and I know I'm in the minority, but I actually like the look of the Sub LV better than the classic sub.

Go for it! You won't regret it.

I agree with Tool's comments. Go with your guts feeling. It's a gamble. It depends whether you can wait for another 6 months without a Rolex watch on your wrist. If yes, wait till they release a photo of the new Sub. Then you will have a better idea.

The Sub SS and GMT IIc SS were hovering over my mind for 3 months before I decided on the latter. And I love my watch now. Once you purchased, you wont regret either LV or the new ceremic Sub.

Its the same for all modern day Rolex although not so many LVs as say the sub.But if they do bring a ceramic it will go the same route in time.Lets not forget how many Rolex watches are produced each year.

Two days later, I was in my hometown and visited the Rolex dealer I had bought my watch ten years earlier. I told him I wanted a Sub, almost bought the LV etc...............

I was offered a Sub, or the GMT Master IIC.

As I am not a Diver, but do travel the world a fair bit, the GMT won me over.

So I invested a load of money in something that I didn't even know I wanted unti I saw it in the flesh......all I knew was that I WAS going to get a new Rolex.

Today I still love the GMT IIC, still admire Subs and all watches!

Try them all and then make your decision...you might surprise yourself!

Well I was also decided to buy a GMT IIc till I tried the Submariner in the shop... now I'm dreaming of a GMT coke?

As others have said, if it were me I'd get the LV now as it will be a while before you can even see a picture of the new Sub (assuming it is introduced at the next Basel show) and about a year before you could see one at an AD.

An idea to consider - if you could find a nice used LV, then you could get that now and if you do later decide you want the new Sub instead, you wouldn't take as much of a hit when selling the LV as you would have if you had bought it new. . . and meanwhile you'd have a Rolex on your wrist for the next year.

Well I am very old school so I would go for the old style Sub and forget about the ceramic.

I agree with a previous poster that the new generation Rolex's have a serious design flaw in that the bracelet does not look right with the new maxi case. I can't ever see myself buying a new gen Rolex so it's likely to be old style while still available and then used and vintage for me from now on.

Get the LV now, it has the maxi-dial, and buy a black bezel. My local AD will sell a black bezel for a 'V' series for $120 CDN.
