The advert was put on this thread for GENUINE Rolex fans to have a heads up, not for a bloody DEALER to go in and buy both. Bang out of order IMHO |

I'm with you 100% on this Taffytoon, It shows a complete lack of class for him to gloat about it too.

It was a poor joke
The dealer never had two Daytonas for sale one was sold prior to being put in the window and the other was a wg 116509 with black dial, siple case of mistaked id and a poor joke by my self.
I have spoken at length to several in the trade who know the score ,lists are short ,stock is better than it has been in years and loads of people when called with there watch are declining to accept the watch due to money worries. I would think if you get on a list you could get one in 12 months ,I think the 6/7 yrs is total BS i have never waited more than 30 months even when quoted many more yrs |

With regards to Ss daytonas, these watches are still the most sought after sports model that Rolex produces. The demand for these will always outstrip supply.
Rolex produces approx 2000 ss models every year for world wide distribution, that is quite a hefty number if you take into consideration production time and the range of watches that rolex offers with all the different dial variants. I look for daytona's where ever I go on my travels and have not seen a SS 116520 in a shop window that is "free" stock. I have seen many Bi metal models with differents dials and plenty of white gold 116509's and of course the rose gold model. Saying that I did manage to purchase another ss Daytona this week for £6170 from a local dealer and sold it for £6800 which i think is a fair price. I have two SS Daytona's in my own collection and agree with all the comments on pricing, the first one I paid £3680 and the second I paid £6170 which is really painful.. As some forum members already know I managed to get Rolex to swap the dials and now have the black and red dial in one and the new white arab (paul newman) dial fitted into the other. I still have the original dials that came with the watches as well. The only trouble is that I dont wear them now as the deep sea sea dweller and the Tudor hydronaut get all my wrist time at the moment. I am due to get another SS Daytona before xmas and it will go up for sale when I get it For £6500. |

Also getting your hands on a list price SS Daytona in the UK has also got better, for the reasons detailed above, and certainly explains why I got mine last weekend after being 15 months on the list and the AD swallowing the cost of the dial swap instead of just going to the next person on the list who wanted a black face instead of a white. Does make you wonder what this will do for the resale prices of SS Daytonas in the UK if this improved supply is not just stock being diverted from other "underperforming" markets for the short term. |

Mine went back to Bexley on Tuesday for a black to white dial swap. I saw the arab/newman dial on a TT Daytona in the window of EJ in Bluewater this morning and really liked it. Can this dial be fitted to a SS version without complaint from Rolex UK? If so I am sorely tempted to call my AD and ask them to see whether it can be done instead of the standard white dial. Thanks. |

Hi Ya
The dial can be swapped, but the problem is that Rolex will not supply the WG Dials for the SS Daytona models full stop. I am very lucky to have a contact at Rolex Hq and the dials were swapped and fitted by Rolex Uk for me. It is possible to purchase a dial from a third party, Rolex will NOT fit it for you and it will void any warranty you have, the dials are about £1200 to purchase on the grey market. I am sorry to disappoint you that I cannot help you with a dial swap. On a standard watch I prefer the white dial. |
