Did your AD literally say "not a chance "? For a 36mm? Well, if you asked and you don't have much of a relationship or spending history or both, then that is pretty obvious

In all seriousness, he is definitely not always the highest. There are several other so-called trusted sellers, and depending on the timepiece, their prices can be several thousand higher. I'm not talking about discrepancies and condition. I mean a one-to-one comparison, unworn, depending on the piece.
the $37,875 OP tiffany blue on davidsw website is gone! not sure he just put it away and relist later or its actually sold though.

When they first came out, I wasn't really interested, then few months later I tried one at my AD and thought this would be a nice daily watch for summer, plus I love turquoise (don't care bout Tiffany or else, just love this color...).

At the time (november 2020), they told me around 3-4 months to wait for this one (36mm). In the meantime the prices slowly raised... so after 6 months they told me the demand was so high it'd be probably another 6 months...

And after this year of waiting, this price craziness because of the Patek arrived.... So last week I went to my AD and cancelled this waiting list (I can only be on waiting list for 2 models at the same time..), and changed it for the Yacht Master 40 Everose Oysterflex... that I'll get in a few months for a retail price under the price the Oyster Perpetual is reselling.... In the meantime I also got a YG DD 36 (also for a cheaper price than the reselling Oyster Perpetual price)...

I really hope no one will pay this CRAZY price for a SS watch...just for a dial color, this is so stupid... Honestly if you pay more than a PM model for a SS one there's a problem somewhere..... I could understand that some people would pay this for a SS Daytona, but it's a Daytona, since forever it's the hardest model to get, it has a great history, plus the ceramic bezel is really something..but an Oyster Perpetual ?!?! Don't get me wrong but this should be a model that is in stock all the time !

I managed to snag the 36mm version very shortly after release. I loved the watch as soon as it was announced. However I never bothered to insure it as it was relatively 'cheap' (£4800 I think?)

Now that the value has increased I think I will take out a policy. Does anyone know how much a replacement 36mm would currently sell for so I can give an accurate valuation?

Yes I saw that...since my original post, this timepiece has increased about 5 to 7k, though

On the site https://watchcharts.com/watches

You can explore the prices being asked in the market for most watches and the actual sale prices/ number of sales.

With all the Rolex models I checked there was a significant difference with very few to no sales at the prices we believe are being achieved in the market.

I haven't checked this model yet but I bet its not selling at all.

Prices seem to have plateaued..

Are pieces still moving/transacted?

I believe tho - if it does get discontinued as per Marc golberg’s prediction, prices will skyrocket again..

Who's seriously buying these at $35,000 - $40,000 anyway? Other than grey dealers trading between each other speculatively?

I actually think they are moving at the 34-37k price range..

It is rare, more so than Daytonas..

It is unique, tho some might hate it to the core.

And, prospect of this being discontinued is a real possibility.

The watch market won't really correct.

It's an opaque illiquid market with about 10+ individuals or businesses manipulating and controlling list prices.

Those types of markets can't correct without something like the Quartz Crisis.

27-33 ish seems to be about the range I’ve seen. I think 30k is the right number today. Next week it could be 37, these things are moving around like Bitcoin.

Do we know a single person worth their salt (here) who's actually buying these at these absurd list prices?

Agreed.

If someone is that ashamed, shouldn't they be spending their money on something else?

I try not to buy things that I'm ashamed to admit I bought. In fact, I can't remember the last time I did that. Anywhere. Watches, cars, houses, random products and services, anything.

If you feel that uneasy about it, it's probably the wrong thing to do.

I saw this in person today and now I get the hype. This is coming from someone who doesn't typically prefer colored dials of any sort (outside of black and white).

Honestly, I feel pretty uneasy about the money I spend on anything. That includes the Big Mac I had for lunch, LOL

I sold mine. Got $30k for it. Wore it just a couple of times and people ALWAYS noticed it. I liked that watch, but never loved it though. Been wanting to get a 126710BLNR, so I guess I'll get that from my AD. Or might try to get a ROO, if that's even remotely possible, without exorbitant grey prices.

Do not regret selling it at all. Made $24k and can buy a watch which I would probably love.
