I hate seeing Ze Germans playing in green. It triggers my PTSD from that Italia ‘90 Semi-final. The Waddler hitting the post in extra time, then trying to get the ball to emulate Neil Armstrong in the shootout.

Germans are still toothless, so many teams can't get the better of well organised defences now. That's where a Messi or Ronaldo or Kane is invaluable.

The Germans and German Americans are getting nervous! Whilst the English watch on in detached amusement.

They’ll win and England will soon be out but for now I’m going to enjoy this almost unprecedented set of circumstances.

I'm obviously joking around, typical football banter.

but you're being annoying and possibly insulting to native German speakers. Zakalwe was funny and said one word. You should honestly stop.

Werner and the Swede get the same chance and Werner misses as usual, while the Swede really messes it up but his teammate scores from it! Luck again.

But much better from Germany, personally I would man mark Kroos.

Werner is always just missing a slight touch! He's a young guy though, his future looks bright. He's had a few shots off the post and has looked pretty decent overall.

Crazy part is, even if Germany scores one and wins this game, if Mexico scores one against Sweden, despite Mexico losing by 1, Germany is still 3rd in the group and out.

Pointing it out for all, not to poke at the stressed Germany fans.

Edited to add: Now 3-0 Sweden and Mexico won't score 2. Germany controls their fate. Win and in.

18 World Cups. Germany have reached at least the QF 16 times. The Semis 13 times. The final 8 times. They’ve won it 4 times. An utterly incredible record in such a global sport with so many good teams. Unbelievable.

Surely they will find a way here?!

and that's two headers in ten minutes that Hummels has completely blown. Not even on target. Absolutely embarrassing.
