The watch I want to see produced is platinum (or even BMG) Jumbo with onyx dial and stick diamond markers... like the Japanese version but that one have square markers that are not in line with Jumbo dial...

Yeah, at least in the pictures the aventurine doesn't add anything, but overall a pretty nice clock.

I find every other ceramic color but black (brown can pass too) pretty cheap and plastic looking, even with the AP ceramic polishing wich is by far way better than any other brand...

AP North America CEO interview

https://youtu.be/bRp2dAPejaM?feature=shared

Lengthy but interesting. Said she just took her board of directors on a tour of the US, AP’s largest market.

Please enough of this DEI. Just make good watches that’s it.

Does anybody know when Hodinkee will release the rest of the HoC interviews? Looking forward to Daniel Dae Kim and Ronny Chieng....

I’m all for more ladies watches if it wasn’t so offensive to call them ladies. I’m not sure I understand that one.

I agree. They should make great (smaller) watches but the labeling and pandering to social ideals is aggravating.

In any event, looking forward to what they have up their sleeve

Haven’t watched the vid yet, did she mention DEI in the “woke” context? Or is the convo under the context of catering more to women? Don’t have a problem with the latter but a CEO talking about DEI at the end of 2024/2025 in the former context is quite concerning especially for a luxury brand

The interview questions were kinda DEI, especially when asked about working culture with comparing Europe, Swiss and German cultures vs American. But the CEO of American provided very good none DEI related answers.

To be fair I didn’t watch in full. I clicked the link and went to a random moment and the crux of the conversation was DEI. Maybe just not a good sample size

The board made their rounds a couple months ago with Ginnie and then some were back at Art Basel this week with Illaria.

Just watched the full thing. Good interview (it was the host that was overtly pushing the woke/DEI agenda a little too far).

Ginny was great, sounds like she really wants to, and has, developed relationships with her clients. I think they’re targets for women clientele among the brand overall or a bit aspirational but if anyone can do it, it’s AP.

But make no mistake - if they do, then I think it will be at the detriment (from a straight number of references perspective) for the traditional men’s sizes given AP’s capacity/want in relation to production output.

Watched it. Interesting! But That Malaika Crawford… It costs me so much effort not to clivk away when she speaks! What a way of talking!

Same, she entered the watch world with not 'know it all attitude' but 'know it better attitude' that is more irritant than her diction.

Here is one new video with some of this year biggest releases...
