Sorry for the late reply mate... It's a Biarritz strap from Fluco and it works fine with the GS deplo!

My first GS with a blue/ivory stitch strap. The blue GMT hand is divine. Beautiful and wearable on any wrist size.

I don’t know what’s more impressive. The watch or the price on my receipt. True GMT, stunning level of refinement, running +1.5 right now. All for under 5K NIB.

Thanks, I wear it often. Yes, Seiko has been using this day/date format even on cheap watches since the early-mid 1960s. The 5600 movement introduced in 1968 had a double quickest day/date some 20 years before Rolex. I think the three-letter day beside the date like this looks better than the Rolex Day-Date with the whole day spread over the top. Three letters are all you need and means the font size can be larger and more legible, too, with a choice of two or even three languages on one watch

Didn't realize the Seiko 5600 movement goes back that far, that's really interesting.

Does Grand Seiko currently manufacture any Day Date models? I can't find any on the USA GS site or the Japan site either. Perhaps they've moved to date only?

Yes the LordMatic 5606 was the first one, and was launched in a 1968 catalog supplement. King Seiko (5626) and Grand Seiko (5646) followed soon after.

Grand Seiko still offers the SBGT235 and SBGT237 Day/Dates (mine above is the SBGT235) but they are only sold in Japan. Limited edition models show up from time to time as well.

You know, I don’t get email notifications anymore when someone comments, but yeah, I keep trying to capture it, but the dial glows. It’s pretty wild!
