Awesome piece Ken. I have seen one of the senior lange executives from Europe wearing this piece as his personal watch.

Spent a little time at the AD today and tried on a few of their Lange pieces. All I can say is wow. After spending some time handling these pieces, I can truly understand how one can be drawn to them. Simply amazing. The amount of detail that is put into each watch (no two are exactly alike, from what I have been told) is simply breathtaking.

I am a huge fan of rose gold. I find it pairs perfectly with the brown leather strap.

Apologies for the low quality pictures. The questionable lighting in the AD and my I Phone do not make it easy to take pictures.

My take on Lange after FINALLY being able to try them on in Geneva. First, the movements and finish are simply sublime. That goes without saying I realize, but seeing it in person gave me a new appreciation.

Second, size is was hit or miss for me. The 41mm Dato up/down I wanted to love, but after trying on it was just too small (I realize in pics it looks fine--but pics are not the same as in person). My RM looks great in person, but it pics looks big--it's not.

Then I did tried on Zeitwerk (albeit it was RG as no WG in stock) and I loved it. Size was fine (even though same as Dato techinically), but more importantly it really goes sporty for me. That is the key--can dress it up or down watch (jeans/shorts, etc).

Third, many call Lange 'hockey pucks' and it's true to a certain degree (as you can see in pics), but for me it works.

Lastly, IF you are thinking about Lange (which most on the trip were thinking about it), I HIGHLY suggest getting to an AD and try them on. You may be very surprised (in a good or bad way).

Dato is off my list and WG Zeitwerk has moved to numero uno spot.

Hi folks, a photo of my 1815, a simple 3-hander that I enjoy very much, especially since the 36mm size works well for my slim wrists

Well buddy if the Dato is off because it is too small then you only have one choice....The Double split-all 43mm of it! (although you would need to get a platinum one pre owned now as they stopped production of that one)

I'm surprised to hear you felt the Dato up/down was too small, I believe that's the first time I've heard that description. I feel the same way regarding the original version, but even with larger wrists (and frame for that matter) I think it wears quite well.

Given your position on the Dato, I'm curious what your thoughts were on the 1815l Rattrapante Perpetual? It certainly offers a little more heft.

Great pics btw.

Ken I REALLY wanted to love it--and brought along another TRF'er for their opinion...we both agreed too small on my wrist. Now, the Zeitwerk I LOVED--albeit same size technically, it just had more presence. It was also more 'sporty' of course and I can only imagine the black dial on WG is sweet. As to 1815 yes it has the heft, but for that $$ there are many other watches I would rather have.

As mentioned the movements are simply jaw dropping under a loupe...just wow.
