Pearlmaster. Although my Gf's mom has some bedazzled Rolex like that. Suits her style.

The AirKing seems to be the poster boy of "less is more".
The Explorer 1 looks good. It looks even better next to the AirKing.

If someone gifted me an AK, I wouldn't refuse it. But I wouldn't buy it with my own money.

DAYTONA

For me (perhaps only me)
- Too small
- No date
- Dials hard to read
- Chrono with screw in pushers not useable

Yatchmaster II

By far the ugliest and most obnoxious Rolex.

YM because of design and no use for it
Oyster Perpetual because I'd rather have a DJ41
Milgauss in its current form because of design
Cellini because for that type of design, I'm drawn to other brands
Explorer I is a nice watch but no use or desire
For now, no two-tone

Same. I’m also not a huge fan of the YM II. I REALLY like the white gold 42mm YM on rubber, just hate that it says “Yachmaster” on the dial. Also not particularly a fan of the Milgauss or Air King. Cool models, just not for me.

If any of these "unloved" models get discontinued us losers would be scrambling to pay double MSRP for them!
Except for me of course.

Pearlmaster, milgauss, Cellini at the price point, any YM other that the black 42, skydweller, sea-dweller, datejust 36 and under, and explorer/explorer II. Probably not OP 39, but I do like the watch.

I am boring, really only like sub, datejust 41, Daytona, day-date 40 and GMT. Would like to have each of these 5 as I grow my collection.

116503 MOP (the green and purple pre-2018 dial, not today’s black Tahiti)

I saw this in January for £15K. I never knew it existed before. I passed, because everyone I spoke to laughed at me, a man in his fifties buying a watch better suited to an Upper East Side lady in her 70s.

I couldn’t get her (this is a lightly feminine watch, and I love my SD43, so feminine and masculine both work for me) out of my head. When I surfed again, not only were they very hard to find, but the prices were nearer £20K.

I had to decide if I could live without her. And when I couldn’t, I had to work out if I could get my head around paying more than £15K. And then, because I didn’t have all the cash, I had to ask myself if I should take a 14% loss on a Batman on Oyster, as part exchange.

She’s been mine for a couple of days now. Every time I look at her, she changes, seductively. And I think light-hearted is a better adjective than female or male, in perhaps the same way that steel-eyed better describes the SD43.

I would never have bought (1) MOP (2) YG two-tone or (3) diamonds. Until I saw her. So I crossed that thin line between hate and love. And, thanks to Rolex, because I can’t think of any watch which is more confusing, I’m going to be asking myself what that thin line means forever.

I thoroughly recommend this one. It’s an answer to the question asked by every Rolex cynic to any Rolex collector: “why buy the same watch over and over again, when the only difference you can really see is the bezel?”

But the real win is that this experience has made me think. About how much you win when you take monetary loss out of the equation. And about how fickle that line between love and hate is. Rolex makes me think. I hated the (exogenous) concept, but love the (endogenous) reality.
