I have one , but missed my chance to buy a second one for my brother, when they were still affordable. Prices have now risen 50% since I bought mine. Future classic. A great Rolex !

A friend of mine has a Rubber B for 116610 and he didn't want it anymore.

Anyone here knows if it fits in 116600?

Mine says hello BTW

It fits but you either need new spring bars or drill the hole to 2 mm...

Thanks Phrede. If modification is needed, I think I'll pass. Thanks for the information

My RubberB straps work just fine. Have a good spring bar tool and take your time. They do fit tightly so so can get frustrating at first.

So you're using rubber B for 116610 for 116600 and it fits just fine?

Congrats all on owning my dream watch!
Can’t wait to join the club. Wondering if any of you bought recently. What’s a reasonable price? Saw one sold on sotheby’s for US 11,500. Guessing private sellers would be lower?

Here's mine. I got it in September 2014, the launch year. I'd always fancied the previous model but I never really saw them in AD windows and missed out when it was discontinued in 2009 even in the days where the lists were generally non-existent unless you wanted a stainless steel Daytona. I expressed an interest in one a local AD and they called only a few days later to say one had come in to stock. The launch price in the UK, £6900 when the Submariner date was around £5,500 so quite a big price difference considering little difference in appearance at first glance. However, I liked the significantly raised thicker crystal and narrower less chunky shoulders giving it a more "vintage" look, the extra markers on the cerachrom bezel insert, the inscription on the caseback and the helium escape valve even though I never had any plans to test it a 4000 feet. To me, although having a thicker case and case back, it just wears better on my small wrist than my Submariner LV, particularly once I removed the extension link. What I didn't expect when I took the plunge is for it to have such a short production run! I guess for Rolex and at the higher price point, it just didn't sell as well as the sub and was a bridge too far for some customers. If I could only retain one Rolex, this would probably be it, for me, the perfect watch.

I am interested in picking one up. Is there anything to be worried about on early-production year vs later other than simply warranty time and additional age?

Does this use the same bracelet as both ceramic Subs?

(Apologies if this was answered already)

Nothing to worry about.
When you look at a used on, run your nail on the edge of the crystal to check if there is any chips

Hi
I've heard the final run of the line had a semi gloss dial. Is it true?

I bought mine used from a private seller last year. One thing to look for is the condition of the seals. In particular the large deal visible when the crown is fully unscrewed and pulled out to final position. Looking back at the pictures from the for sale item I could tell after the fact that the seal was needing replacement. It looked really worn and perished. Only after I got it back from RSC service did I notice how obvious it was. Also besides possible chips along the crystal edge (mentioned in another post) you may see wear and tear on the clasp.

These 116600 are such great looking watches, I've heard the last production run of them had a semi gloss dial that was different to the main run. Is this true and are they worth seeking out?

I saw one with the glossier dial with my own eyes, in a shop, next to mine with the Satin dial, but I got called a liar so I’m staying well out of it!!

This is very interesting! My SD4K at certain angles appears satin and even the dial has brownish hues, but this is noticeable under very bright sunlight. Most of the times it appears glossy. The Submariner dial (14060m) is glossy under all lighting conditions. The SD43 dial is similar to the SD4K but looks more glossy. Definitely these watches have different dial textures and coating. Would love more people to provide their observations.

The dial of my 116600 offers a clear contrast between the dial and bezel in most lighting conditions, it adds a depth that a gloss dial and gloss bezel (I.e. Sub) doesn’t. So even when it is more satin than matte, it is still very different to a glossy dial.

I have to fess up, I don't own one so I can't say, either way, it's such a good looking watch. It would be interesting to see a side by side of the different dials.
Stay safe

I love mine, but my failing eyes made me add a cyclops with UV glue. It can be easily removed with nail polish remover.

Tempted to pick one up as I found my 114060 too glossy for my taste.

Although the ceramic bezel will obviously still be glossy I wonder if the satin dial will help matters for the overall look

It does. Very different to the Sub.
