I would thing for a one and only you would have to go TT. What if your daughter wants you to wear a gold vest and cumberbun at her wedding ,you don't want to clash. For the day in day out , brush clearing , Marlin catching , Wynn poker table, night on the town with the wife, little league, and your daughters wedding with the mathing gold vest and cumberbun, a TT BLUESY SUB!!

One watch for all occasions, some of those occasions being black tie, would be the Datejust, jubilee band, fluted bezel. Either stainless or combo.

I don't recall seeing anyone write that they would take the Polar Exp II. This is somewhat surprising considering how often it is stated on here that it's so versatile, rugged, understated, etc.

Great replies so far. Keep em coming.

I take it off for certain activities, like working on airplane engines or washing the car. I wonder about riding my motorcycle with it on, if I got hurt, would I ever get it back or would it get stolen by the ambulance or emergency room crew? But pretty much, it goes with me everywhere.

What a hard question?
So many Rolex models are stunning in my opinion....

My favs are :

SS/WG/TT Daytona
SD
SDDS
GMT 2 models
Yachtmaster SS Plat
Submariner Date
SS Datejust, Jubilee bracelet, 18ct white gold fluted bezel
Explorer 2 White face

Glad to see so many of these mentioned on this thread....so hard to pick an ultimate favourite :)

Yachtmaster in SS with platinum dial. IMHO, it`s sporty and dressy at the same time.
And Explorer I, of course.

I think the Submariner is the obvious choice, but owning a LV, GMT IIc and a s/s YM, for this one my choice is for the YM.

Looks just at home with the casual look as it does for the more formal occasion!

Sentimental reasons or no, this is the perfect choice. And a beautiful, beautiful watch. Can we see more pictures?

Love that vintage Explorer.

As much as I like the modern sport models, the more obvious bezel makes them less suitable to me as 'jack of all trades' watches. They definitely work in 95% of circumstances, but don't work for very formal wear in my eyes (e.g, black tie or very formal business setting).

I'd still vote the Datejust or DJII. Even though the II is 41mm, the bezel is very understated and makes the watch wear smaller than it really is.

Being a diver, I would have to say a Y-serial or older 16600. Date, lug-holes, dresses up or down........just a great overall watch. They NEVER should have stopped production of it.

Guess it is good that I have 3
