Guys , I had my reservations before the OP posted the first picture . We see them coming every day don't we ? We get them usually waltzing in with these same crappy , grand father , inheritance found in the safe ... stories

Look at my reply to Leo ,( 4 th post of this thread ) I asked if it would be SAFE to ask for pictures .
The OP came immediately back on a very defensive tone by asking what i exactly meant by that ... dude ! He knew don't worry . Just sick of those jokers taking us all for a ride .

Holy Cow Batman !! What a thread. We all have opinions. Take it to a watchmaker to look inside.

Nektarios - I truly did find a 9kt bubbleback band in my bank safety box melt bag. I was smart enough to ask this forum about it because I had no idea. I put it there over 15 yrs ago before I became invovled in collection these damn expensive watches...

Play Nice !!

I can guarantee you the OP was "fishing" around to see just how nieve(sp) the peeps are on this site, to see who will "send a (the first) message inquiring to buy it 'NOW' if ya decide to sell"...
Its all designed to de-fraud and rip-off someone...

Thanks,
Randy

The astonishing thing is how few of these people have ever heard of jewelry stores, dealers, or appraisers...

But they all seem to find us.

If I knew nothing and had what I thought was a very expensive watch, I would trundle into the nearest dealer and ask their opinion first.

I doubt seriously that I would turn to a bunch of complete strangers on the web - first -

Are there no brick and mortar dealers in all of British Columbia?

Exactly Tristan. As soon as I saw the "dial view" of the case side, I could tell this was a "Chinese cased," imposter.

Even to my untrained eye I thought it had major problems and was not the "Real McCoy", but just telling the poster to verify with a local AD or watchmaker is an appropriate way to deal any situation (scam or naive).

no one has solid gold rolex day dates just sittin in their safe (unless you are a true collector - but you probbaly have it in a very nice winder so you can view it every day)

i bet there are a dozen stores in your area they can tell you its a fake pretty quicklyu - but you probably already knew that

maybe people use this site to help them design better fakes...

Hmmm, never thought of that and a very good point. What better way to to design a better counterfeit than to have a group of knowledgeable people point out all the flaws.

I just found a Daytona in my shoe and I need some info about it. I might get a GMT 1675 and have to sell the Daytona though.

All of the sudden those fishin poles I inherited at the same time are looking pretty good! Thanks to some of you and to the others, a tip for ya....you're awful quick to jump on somebody (and to conclusions)....to avoid looking like fools maybe you should wait till somebody actually tries to scam somebody

I really did inherit this pos and I really had no idea it wasn't real. I can totally see what you guys are seeing in this watch and it's especially noticeable when I look at real rolexes now that I know the things to look for.

Dont take it personally, its just we see this crap all the time and its usually a story exactly like yours, so take your pos and take a sledge to it and be happy with the fishin poles !

Before you make up your mind, have it authenticated by a real live authorized service shop.

Don't

Don't be surprised when the watch is 18K gold with ETA movement.

Holland is flooded with these from Antwerp, we call them Geneve's.

Most of the times they are branded Rolex but also Geneve

Look at the day font on the DD.

Jack

Was there a hyphen in "Oyster-Perpetual" back then? I had an AK from the 1980s and don't believe there was a hyphen.
