Of course, I asked to see his TT Daytona and was so sadly disappointed. The "gold" on the 3 crowns were all faded, the SELs were shaking and loose, the "gold" on the centre links too were fading and the overall look was terrible.

It did have an automatic movement as the Chrono hand had a smooth sweep; so I asked him where he got it and he told me that a friend of his got it for him from Dubai.

Then I very diplomatically told him that I guess he knew this was not genuine and he nodded approvingly and with a SMILE on his face. I really couldn't get angry with him as he was just a young fella and quite sporting about the whole thing.

He said he'd had it since 2006 and it was still working quite nicely. I told him it must have a good Chinese movement inside!!

All in all a very amicable meeting and no problems whatsoever.

JJ
You should have punched him in the nose and ran with it.:chuc kle:

A story of two gentlemen.......Nice to hear that someone who wears a fake rolex can take the time to compliment the real thing.

My exact feelings... To each his own.. If he not showing it off or boasting about it why even comment on it.. It's like telling someone their significant other is fugly out of the blues..

+1

Personally I would never buy a replica, but then again everybody can make there own choice and judgment when it comes to this issue. I know it's not the same thing, but its not like I would get angry with somebody who drives a big Hummer - just because I personally don't like that this "car" pollutes more then lets say a Lexus Hybrid.

Perhaps, if somebody really feel the urge to speak their mind, it would be better to educate the person wearing the fake about the working standard in many of these so called factories who produces these fakes. That would hopefully make them think once or twice before going in that direction once again...

Personally I wouldn't bring it up though, except of course if the fellow thought he was wearing the real deal. Then there's a different story I guess.

Anyhow, that's just my 2 cents on this subject.

Cheers,
Joe

It's not like JJ grabbed his hand, held up his watch high in the air and started shouting, "It's FAKE It's FAKE!"

Cheers,

I never chastize someone because they may not be a WIS, or have the funds for a Rolex. I ALWAYS compliment someone on their choice of timepiece, as long as it's real. Sorry, I just lose a lot of respect for people that intentionally buy fake merchandise. There is no shame in having a nice watch that isn't on the level of a Rolex.

I totally agree with you Paul, however in this case the guy is young and I am sure that he will get the real thing as soon as he can afford it. Its only a matter of time for him

Let me remind you guys of the TRF rules 5

5. THIS IS NOT A FORUM FOR THE DISCUSSION OF FAKE WATCHES, BRACELETS ETC, and your opinion about FAKE WATCHES and who makes them, sells them, buys them and wears them is NOT welcome.

Nice one JJ, a real Gent. Can't get angry at that guy. My mate wears a fake tag which is flourescent yellow. When I asked him why he couldn't really understand my question and simply said..."I can see it really well". You can't argue with that logic.
