I wasn't suggesting that you had made that assertion. But there is a certain "Rolex is best" bias on this forum and elsewhere in the thread.
I'd imagine that it's something to do with this :

..... and don't get me wrong.

I bought this piece a couple of days ago for far less than half the price I'd get for my BLV if I sold it tomorrow and the watch is a "superior" in more than one way. It was also probably cheaper than the price one would get for an ETA IWC watch and it would be hard to raise a giggle when asserting that the Zenith was a finer example of a timepiece.

The market placed the value of this superb watch at a fraction of an equivalent Daytona and all that one can do is respect the reality of such a market and simply acquire the better value pieces.

I live within biking distance to the TAG USA repair center, and knew a lot of their watchmakers.

They kept one person busy repairing the Link bracelets full time . . .

Well, I really like Tag, however its not a Rolex. I have a Tag 6000, but it doesn't compare to my Sub

I agree and my ladies Tag Link is not as durable a watch as my Rolex, plus I have to buy batteries.

I love my Rolex, I only like my Tag.

I have rolex watches and my daily beater is a Tag F1 chrono. Nowhere is the tag comparable to a rolex even though the Tag is a tough watch. Have been wearing it since 2004 and it is a good sports watch. I just find it strange that a Tag is being compraed to a rolex.

Yes, or at least a gateway drug into the world of Watch Idiot Savants! I got a Tag after years of wanting one and within a year I was wanting a Rolex.

The price difference was only about $1500 between the Tag I bought and an entry level Rolex. Of course, once I added the special dial, diamonds on the dial and gold bezel to the Rolex, there was a $6000 price difference..

Ummm Monaco's go for as much as a SS Rolex so I'm baffled about what you're talking about.

Yes they are worse quality, but what you just said is a very ignorant statement and another one of the reasons why on other forums I've run into large prejudices against Rolex owners.

Is a Rolex a poor mans Lange?

Like both TAG and Rolex, for me TAG quality may be lesser... but it doesn't make TAG a bad watch ! the resale value is the one thing that TAG lacks.... other than that, they produce beautiful watches. I had mine for 5 years, and no complaint at all.

I find many of Tag's designs to be trendy looking. There are a few exceptions, the Monaco being one of them.
Rolex on the other hand, I can't think of one that I would put into the trendy design category...classic designs(perhaps even too conservative for some) that will stand the test of time IMO.

I think that if I am going to expend 4000 euros in a watch, I will buy a rolex SS, not a tag or any watch with standard machine, I want a home-made machine for that money

but if I am going expend 1500 euros on a nice watch, I can buy many watches for that price, I will buy fortis, tudor, tag, corum...very well made watches at good prices, but for me is not logical buy a watch with an standard movement at the price of one manufactured

By machine do you mean movement, or the machine that assembles the watches?

That would also draw a good comparison, Lange came to my head immediately though, because I've recently been trying a few on at my AD, and they are STUNNING. (Albeit priced at $60,000+)

Think I should sell part of my collection to help fund one?

Wow. I have purchased my wife two tags, one dating back to the 80s, and they have been faultless, loyal servants with great looks. In fact, she prefers the look to anything else I've shown her, and hs enjoyed her tags.

To read a Rolex forum bashing another brand reeks of insecurity. If you bought a Rolex, and you love it, then it IS the best watch for you. But if you think Rolex is the top of the food chain in movement 'manufacture" then you are fooling yourself.

This isn't a game of "who's better" it's a game of "what do I enjoy wearing?"

When I'm running I like my Garmin heart monitor, GPS, the best. Seiko is making some of the best lume on the planet, perhaps as good as Girard Perregaux, although you wouldn't find advocates of one brand likely wearing the other (I do, but I'm lume driven).

I think it degrades Rolex ownership to feel the need to call it "better" than any other brand.

I really dont think Omega or Breitling go toe to toe with Rolex to be honest. However i do take your point that Breitling belong with Omega and not with TAG.

What is the point or need to say X brand is better than Y or Z brand?? These threads sound "insecure and needy" like a high school pissing match. Just an observation.
