Very sorry for your loss.. your father has left you something incredible to remember him by. I'd wear it daily as he did - I'm sure he left it for you to enjoy and not to look at from a distance!

My condolences to you over the loss of your father as I lost my father in 1998. I have a few keepsakes that my Mom gave me which will never be sold for any amount of money. Your Dad wanted you to have the watch so wear it everyday with pride and enjoy the gift handed to you!!!

My Condolences...

My deep condolences... I've been through this situation years ago.. My father left me a YG Day Date when he passed away ,, I kept it for years in the safe and never wore it because it wasn't my style and because I had other Rolex sports models.. Anyway my mistake is that I sold this watch and now I feel really bad of selling it.. My advise to you: Just keep your TT Sub for good !

Wow, I got a little emotional there reading all the comments from you guys. You dont know how much this advice means to me. I was going to put this watch in the safe but I think I will wear it now. When my mom handed me the watch I just lost it, because seeing it instantly reminded me of him. I will take your advice to heart.

Thank you again. I look forward to more advice from this community.

Sorry to hear about your dad, that just plain sucks. He obviously wanted it worn every day, because it sounds like he really enjoyed doing so and probably left it to you in order to continue that.

Please accept my sympathy for your loss.

I have the same watch, except mine is a few years younger than your father's watch. Both of my children associate my watches with their Dad. Consequently, my son has asked me if I would leave him my original Rolex Submariner, and my daughter has asked me to leave her my TT Blue Submariner.

If your father wanted you to have the watch, I suggest that you wear it in his memory and honor. As time passes and the shock of his sudden passing wears off, you will appreciate the watch and your father's memory more and more.

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

I do understand it might take a while to get confortable wearing your father's watch, but when you can wear it like your father wore it.

My condolences to you on the loss of your Dad as well. My Dad left left us in 1997 and Mom gave me his watch. Tho it isnt a Rolex, (an Elgin), whenever I wear it, I think of my Dad. Its a watch I will never part with.
I only wear it occassionally..but think of my Dad more than that.
.
Wear his watch with pride ..and remember him as he was. That is what Im sure he would want for you.

I can empathize.
My father passed away ten years ago and left me a 18K YG Longines watch. But it's really not my style and I hardly wear it. Sometimes for my mother's sake if she is visiting. I remembered that my Father had and then lost a GMT II Pepsi when I was a kid. So the plan is to sell the Longine, with my Mother's blessing, to finance a Pepsi. This is more my style, and it will still honour my father's memory because he was more of Rolex guy than a Longine guy and I will wear that a lot and think of him each time I look at my wrist.
My sympathies to your family.

The loss of a parent is painful and no matter how old they may be, no matter how ready they sometimes think they are, we are never ready for them to leave us. It is always painful. I lost my mother a little over three years ago and needed some joy in my life. That started my watch collecting as I don't think I will be caught wearing any of her jewelry (LOL). In any event, I think you should wear that Rolex at least as much as your Dad did. He loved it and wore it as should you. Thats most likely why he left it to you.

I hope as the days, weeks and months go by, you will be able to think of your Dad and smile.

Things like this are what make Rolex a Rolex. It's a watch. Every time you look at it, you will be reminded of all the fond memories you had. Moreover, it will be passed down after you, hopefully, with even more stories to come....

Wear that watch each and every day in good health, my friend!

My most sincere condolences to you and your family. I was in your shoes a little over three years ago. As with you, I sent it off to NY for service. I have to tell you that when it came back, I was in aw. I'm sure you will be as well. Make sure to post pics when you get it back .

I agree with everyone else. Where it with pride and whenever you check to see what time it is, you will always remember him and smile.

My condolences on your father's passing. You should wear his TT Sub as often as possible when you get it back from service. Think of it as a celebration of his life, even if his physical form has left this world.

And my apologies if discussing financial matters might seem tacky, but the advice from Rolex to insure his watch for $10K seems a fair bit too much. No sense in overpaying premium to a faceless insurance company that will likely only reimburse you the actual replacement value for a 10+ year old timepiece if harm were to somehow befall this watch.

I'm sure you'd never let anything happen to this timepiece, so might as well pay the reasonable and correct amount for insurance, just in case.

Sorry to hear dude. Honor your father the way he should be. Wear and enjoy the watch. Every time you look at the watch, just remember your father. Passing down from father to son makes the watch so much more valuable than any other watch out there.

I would do the same.
