I'm done trying to explain the meaning of my original post. Nowhere do I ever claim that what happened was "funny." Those of you who haven't faced almost daily physical threats to your well being and safety can never understand the feeling of relief when such threats are neutralized quickly and safely.

Yea you probably didnt mean to be funny nor did it sound funny to me. It jus seemed you enjoy and derive pleasure by inflicting pain in self defence because your thread heading clearly states you LOVE the taser sound as though i love my morning cup of coffee...
Regardless you come from a very socially responsible work background which includes a lot of personal stress dealing with different and probably disturbed human beings. The thread took a humourous turn to almost something that started justifying pain and torture from a purely I assume a 'vent out' thread.

More than anything what let me down was the whole gang up bit whether a person is right or wrong in his opinion, the whole process of shutting up someone was in bad taste.

In my inaugural post here on TRF I wrote, regarding this forum, “...I've noticed so far the lack of bashing and flaming that occurs so often on other forums...” In other words, then I noticed that TRF didn’t have the flaming and/or infighting that occurs so frequently amongst people sharing a common passion. In this case, Rolex and watches have brought all of us together here. Unfortunately, opinions often bring out the contempt in people as we have seen in this thread.

I have to chime in here because there has been some questionable information posted specifically at the hand of chrisrussell. Chrisrussell stated: “the fact it is used much more often inappropriately.” I would like to know where this information was obtained and how it is being used “much more often inappropriately” rather than appropriately.

“These things proliferating like locusts.” They are being supplied to officers throughout the world for a number of reasons. Tasers do not replace firearms. They are used as an alternative to hands-on (i.e., fighting or batons). The are “proliferating” because they work and are being used to save lives.

I can tell you of two personal experiences in the last month in which a Taser was used to end situations that would have otherwise resulted in death or great bodily harm. First, a manic suicidal individual, after firing rounds out of his window, sat in his living room with his aggressive dog awaiting the arrival of police. He held a .40 calibre pistol in his hand as police entered his apartment. In this case, deadly force would have been justified if that person pointed his pistol at the police. Luckily for him, he didn’t and he was stopped by use of a Taser. The second situation was a knife wielding individual who already stabbed his mother and then threatened to take his own life. The Taser eliminated the threat. Had we been there as this person lunged at his mother maybe she would still be here.

Chrisrussell, you say that you sit on boards dedicated to public safety. Have you gone on ride alongs with the police in your jurisdiction? Perhaps your jurisdiction doesn’t have the crime we have in other places. I invite you to come to Chicago. Spend a week on the different shifts and see what the officers and general public are up against. In fact, you don’t even have to spend a week. Spend one day or one overnight shift in some of the beats and see if your opinion doesn’t change.

I understand that your opinion, in part, concerning the OP was that you think he found humor in the topic. My opinion is that he didn’t. My opinion, however, is that Tasers are a useful tool and, overall, are being used the way they were intended to be used. If you could point me to statistical information proving otherwise I welcome that.

Well, you seemed to find a lot of humor in the violence involved in smashing someone's kneecaps with a bat, complete with smilies.
Speaking of smilies where's that one ...

There we go.

Oh lord.....

TORTURE was mentioned.....

A meth addict was trashing the ER, and got zapped. The Doctor was glad to hear the situation end with the crackle of a taser.

Dr., I'm sorry your thread went to crap, but I know what your saying!

Soddit I'll chip in with my 2 pen'orth.

If I was a Doctor & if I overheard some drugged up scumbag trashing my hospital & threatening my staff & patients I'D be glad to hear the tazer.

In fact I might even ask the LEO to zap the POS again during my break so I could watch.

If that offends anyone's liberal sensibilities I really don't give a .

If there was less liberalism there'd be less need for tazering IMO.

A shock to sedate somebody, and abuse and torture are two separate thing. This thread is about the former. Let's keep it about that. Mmmmkay?

I am very confused I thought all politics were off limits at TRF. Or is it certain political views???? This needs clarification I think.
