There are a number of things I come here for. But the pictures of various members watches is definitely very high on the list.
Thats what I was trying to say, by freeing up space, we can continue those threads as the threads deleted that were more then 2 months old lets say should free up space to be used in a continious cycle.

Also how we reply we chew up disk space. If our replies did not include pics again, we are not wasting space....

Compromise is the key here and with some descipline and restrictions we should be able to continue as is... Just a few thoughts anyway.

Da 'Tona

BTW, always post pictures to Photobucket - does that save on bandwidth?

Just say no to no WRUW!

No, you didn't ask if we needed a daily WRUW thread.

You said "I don't think we need...." & then went on to mention the cost of same.

Especially when posted by a moderator I believe that this kind of statement effectively discourages members from participating in one of the more popular & almost traditional threads IMO.

We're a watch forum yet there's many many photo's of boats, bikes, cars, home cinemas etc etc & I've not read of anyone complaining about those.

I'm therefore surprised that anyone would have a problem with a WRUW type thread.

1/ Delete old WRUW threads older lets say more then 2 months old??
Free up valuable disk space. (unless this is already done)

2/ When we reply to posts with pictures attached, in the reply should have the picture removed (as this will ensure we are not wasting storage and keep seeing the same pic on the same thread 10 times)

3/ Upload feature to be available to paid members only?? As we have mailbox restrictions, upload restrictions should apply as well.

4/ I as a user should be able to delete any picture upload. This is not allowed.

Just a few thoughts anyway.

John

Well said buddy.. 100% agree on all the things you mentioned. I like the idea of purging older threads to free up space and also allowing the upload features to pledge members only.

Ok.. I just opened a photobucket acct. Now can someone please tell me how to upload the pics to TRF....
BTW I look foward to the daily WRUW thread... I love looking at all the great photos. Maybe Stevo should allow uploading only to pledge members...

In Photobucket left click on IMG code under the pic you want. Should show "copied". In your TRF post, put your cursor where you want the pic, right click, then choose Paste. Click on Preview Post to confirm it uploaded.

We've been having these threads for years, Peter, so I respectfully disagree. If it's an issue, make a rule. Someone posted that a lot of people pay to support this site, and that is 100% correct. That should count for something.

One thing people could do is delete the images when they reply, so as not to duplicate photos throughout the thread.

Amen to that, John! I've been ranting here for years about folks who quote entire posts including all the images. Its usually nice to see a new thread with a series of pix, but by the time I've scrolled to the bottom of the page and seen the same series of pix 5 times, it starts getting tedious.

It doesn't take a lot of skill or effort to edit your quotes, folks.
