I don't really care for anything over 42 mm. I think Rolex is fine at the 40mm.

They are perfect for my wrist size, IMHO.

Love my 'Dakota' at 40. Thanks for the disrespect KirkWilfred!
4 out of 6 of my 'nice' watches are 40mm and on me (6'4", 200 lb.), they fit well.

I am tall but with thin wrists. My Explorer seems perfect for me at 36. I like the Sub size too, and that might be next, but when I try on anything 42+ it doesn't feel right.
Rolex seems perfect for me in the 36-40 range. |

I've been hearing and reading snippets of the end of the "large watch era" for a few years now and I have not seen any manufacturers downsizing their cases. Even the vaunted Rolex "supersized" their case to perpetuate the trend.
Having said this, though, I don't find the sports collection too small. |

I am right there with you. I don't think that the large watch style is a "trend". Trends don't last past a season or two, for the most part. Panerai has been making watches for a long time as has AP. I like Rolex at the 40mm, but Panerai sits perfect on my wrist. I had a 244 and had to pass it to my wife as I felt that it did not seem right. Stands too tall and not wide enough. my 320 fits like a glove and with the simple style it does not call out attention which I like. I would like to see Rolex put out a 42 or 44 mm watch. I think a 44mm Daytona would look awesome.

I on the other hand went from 44mm of a Pam to a 42mm of a Sinn 857s and finally to a 40mm of a Sub 14060M and loving every second of it.
i have no problems jumping inbetween sizes and i find a change quite refreshing. |

40 mm is a good size for me for Rolex...also have a Breitling B1, Baume Mercier, and Omega seamaster that are all more than 40 but I don't believe more than 43mm which for me is the upper limit

I am glad that Rolex offer a 41mm Date Just. Anything below 40mm seems slightly feminine to me.

I have seen oversized watches, (more than 42mm), on a fair number of guys. It always seems to me that they are unsure of something about themselves and are posing with this piece of hardware instead of just wearing a watch. It's not a look I would want.

Nope! In fact I opted for the original DJ over the larger DJ II.

Its all relative. When I wear my DJ for a while then put on the sub, the sub feels huge by comparison. Likewise my Breitling is a veritable monster. I must admit I like the classic 36mm of the DJ even tho I have big wrists. Its somehow more refined

Men used to wear ties that were about half a foot wide. We got over it. We'll also get over the manhole-size watch craze, and the 36 to 40 mm Rolex watches will look just fine, once again.

36-40 is a great size for me. The trend is larger and it looks like the trend is here to stay. But for me 36-40 is in the zone. Guess I'm not very trendy.
