It's a personal preference/taste matter, IMHO.

It's really very personal. How well you can carry it off. Got nothing to do with age.

I think everyone has it backwards. Every old guy I saw on my holidays had a gold watch.

You want to be different from the herd. Wear gold when you're young and go SS when you're old.

Besides hip hop has made bling totally acceptable on young guys. Go gangsta buddy.

Age has no baring on what you wear, in my opinion.

I had my first Rolex in my late 20's and it was an 18kt Date. I know only have two tones and stainless but am in the market for an 18kt DD. I think it may have more to do with your lifestyle than age.

Get what you want and enjoy it!

Gold has been around longer then SS... and I bet it will be around just as long in the future. Bottomline, it doesn't matter, but get it before it hits $5K / oz.

Fine looking watch for sure!

I used to own the new model 18K Daytona on a leather strap and black
MOP dial. Just didn't wear it much and later sold it. But seeing your's got
me craving it again!

By the way,....noticed you "mowed the lawn" before you strapped it on!
I'm going to have to "get-er-done" myself soon.

This is my 2-Tone everyday wear right now,....freshly back from service a few days ago:

My platinum Masterpiece i never seem to get out of the safety deposit box much, but i like that one too,....among my others:

To me YG is an attention getter and WG on the other hand would not stand out as much. I much prefer the TT watches if I were to want YG at all.

No !

this is a funny topic because my girlfriend thinks my two-tone Rolex is too "old man" for me, and perfers my breitling or omega (both stainless steel)

However - my GMT-IIC 2tone has been my grail Rolex for awhile, and now that I have it - I wear it all the time!!!!

BTW - I'm 40

In my opinion, gold probably jumps to $1725/oz in few months, and $1905 max out.
When it touches that $1700ish level, you certainly will see Rolex prices increase 15%. Thus, get it now for what it is or pay more for the wait :-)

Although, even gold goes down $1175, Rolex prices surely do not decrease

Oh,I so agree.

That, and personal preference are all that matters.

With the latter being the most important.

I'm working on a gold mine near Koolgarie western Australia and we have more gold mines here, Gold nuggets can be worn on a chain for $2000 + matching the DD bark. Rolex prices and gold will only be going up due to the Asian Market taking over as número uno customers.

My grand plan is still on route, bought my explorer with my own money at 21. Then hopefully if everything in my life goes well, I'd like to buy a champagne day-date and pass on my trusty explorer to my kid. But then again I'm only 21yo and anything can happen in the mean time. I'm also of the thinking that gold looks best on older people, so I'll wait till then :)

Gold has no age limits and can be as understated as you like it to be.

i dont know im quite split.

i think gold is a waste of money in a watch especially if youre going sport watches collection.

steel is much more versatile and durable.

When youre older you might want a little gold. but then i see a lot of older gentlemen wear shiny steel more than gold.

hmm...go steel you can get more watches.

The only reason why people believe gold is targeted for older people is because they can afford it.
Imagine wearing a blue jeans and white/black t-shirt with a gold rolex..?
That's called fashion.

I feel gold should be reserved for older folks. I look forward to hopefully walking into an AD in many years time and buying myself a nice Gold Patek. Something to strive for.

I do like rose gold though, like this Baume Mercier I used to own. Rose gold is were it's at.

Im 28 and I rock my YG day date with jeans and a Tshirt.
I live in japan and here YG has a image of being unfashionable, for old people or Yakuza.
But i like it so i wear it. anywhere any time !!

I love gold. I have 2 TT Rolex watches and 1 all yellow gold DD...Truth is I don't wear them on a daily basis, they just dont fit into my lifestyle...

My 16713 is the only watch I might wear on a daily basis, the 116613 and the 18038 are just too LOUD. Track pants dont really help the cause..
