Rolex envy...
I've been to a few other forums and encounter some hostility towards Rolex's.
To me it dosen't matter what you own or wear and would never talk down about your watch. A co-worker has a TT Blue Folex yet I never spoke ill of it just surprised as he makes decent money. Do you think it's because they would like to own one but for whatever reason can't??? Don't mean to start-up any controversy here but why rag on someone rather than just move on.

I've noticed that hostility directed at Rolex reviews or comments on other forums too.

The negativity derives from nothing more than jealousy, gentleman. It seems to me that these ''enthusiasts'', if you will, find some sense of false identity in the anonymity of these unknown, unproven and largely unpopular brands. But, we shant succumb to their negativity. We are proud of what we wear and take pride in knowing that we can appreciate others brands without casting the same scorn upon them as we have so undeservedly received.

I haven't worn a watch in some time but for what ever reason this year I began again.
My watch of choice is my Wht. Exp. II, just love the looks and how it wears. Nothing personal just sayin..

There is something about the Rolex name, most likely it's enduring reputation that has elevated it above other more expensive things. People just can't help but be jealous, and or envious when they hear or see a Rolex. Example a person driving a very expensive car stops for a red light, looks over and see's you wearing a Rolex, makes a comment "A Rolex Ha!" Why? because there is just something about a Rolex!

Where do you drive? 99.99% of the very expensive car drivers I know (and as a member of a Royal yacht club I know a few) couldn't care less what watch you wear. To them it's an accepted accoutrement of their station in life and nothing to comment on or make a fuss about. It's just there. Part of life. Anybody making a big deal about a Rolex is tacky nuveau riche or trying to be, or a WIS watch nut like us.

I see a lot of 'other brand bashing' on the guitar forums I visit; this frequently comes from the uneducated newbie who has brainwashed himself into a state of hysterical denial that his brand could be anything other than vastly superior to anything else on the planet.
This guy is seldom a serious player and buys for peer approval and the perceived status his ownership bestows upon him. For me a guitar is my tool; it earns me money. I use quality instruments because they do the job reliably. My Rolex is my tool; it gets me to gigs on time! |

I have to disagree with you guys. We are not talking small money here. We are talking about spending thousands of dolllars for a mere watch. The Panerai costs 5-6K and you know what a new rolex costs especaillly the sub LV at minimum 5K so fad??? gimme a break a watch is only worth what your willing to pay.....I just dont care for watch critics bashing any watches..sucks
