I'd stay right here in NYC. If I could afford a 3500 square feet 5 bed, 3.5 bath place in Manhattan, I would most likely be able to afford a vacation home somewhere else

Jackson Hole...

Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Just a damned beautiful part of this great country. I could look at the Tetons for the rest of my days and never grow tired of them. Come on Powerball! M.A.B.

For me it would be Golden, Colorado.

Ironically, I live in Denver now - only 25 minutes away.

We would live there now but my wife has to be close to the hospital where she works for the time being.

Other than that, I have been intrigued by Santa Rosa, CA for years.

Lived in Durango, Colorado for 10 years and it is pretty high on the list but it is very remote.

I loved Bend, OR and have visited many, many times. Yet a little too remote as well.

Very happy in Tennessee, because I rank political/business/tax environment as higher priority than weather/view.

Malibu is certainly beautiful, I love going to seminars at Pepperdine, but I'd be hauled to the AZ border on a rail about the second time I opened my mouth.

OK- Well, then I think I'd like to live in Incline Village, NV- right on Lake Tahoe- Gorgeous 4 season weather, mild summers! Watersports (No, not THAT kind) in the summer and great skiing in the winter.
Yeah- not a fan of summer- it's a disgusting season IMO.

I couldn't agree with you more. I absolutely hate summers and do not like heat at all. I like mild summers as well. I absolutely love the fall!

We get horrible summers here in the CT/NYC area... as you well know, but the Fall season here makes it all worthwhile.

I would love to move back to Manhattan Beach, CA. Spent 20 years there in the 'tree section' and I miss its small town feel, while being a stone's throw from all the LA has to offer.

Cuenca, Ecuador. The land of eternal spring. Average temperature from January - December is 78 degrees. Some days you will experience all for seasons in one day.

8900 feet HIGH in the Andes and on the equator. 40 miles from the beach and surrounded by 9 volcanoes within driving distance. You can live well on $1000.00 per month. Excellent Ex-Pat groups and I can get a Cuban cigar without going to Federal prison for 23 years!

Leah and I are going for a visit in September. If it suits us we will be moving there within the next couple years.

You can go to You Tube and look up Cuenca.

But I really don't want all your rich people to come before we move there as you will surely drive up the prices of timepieces!

But think of the GTGs we could have!

Were I not tied down to CT- I would choose to live out the rest of my life in a little village called Minffordd, Gwynedd county in Northern Wales... it's like a little piece of Heaven.

Cuenca looks beautiful, and 40 miles from the beach + mountains is a great combination. Somehow though 9 local volcanoes does not seem to be a plus for me...

Manhattan Town House. Upper East Side between 65th and 82nd Streets, between 5th Ave. and Madison Ave. Perhaps Mayor Bloomberg will sell me his double townhouse. Think he'll trade it for a couple of Rolexes? I'll even throw in an Omega.

I believe you are thinking of Hurricanes.
That and you had better speak spanish in most areas or you may not be able to get by too well.
Outside of Orlando, Florida is nice.
Have a place we are building in Ghana, W Africa. Nice country, nice people.. but I would not want to live there year round.

Queensland is a pretty good choice (moved here from Canada 8 years ago).

I would also consider some of the wealthier islands in the Caribbean :)

And the humidity, tourist, traffic and homeless people. Not to mention to Guidos that come down from Jersey, get drunk and cause fights.
