Yes, I need the date. I thought I could live without it but became annoyed when ever I couldn't remember and looked at my wrist and the date wasn't there. That is why the no date Sub is my SECOND favorite watch of all time. I love that symetrical watch face but I gotta have the date.

How do you find the comfort of the Sub-C? Tried one on today, and I'm on the fence. I love it when I try it on, but not so sure long-term. What's your wrist size?

The Sub C is the most comfortable watch Rolex makes if you ask me. That is because I can adjust the fit anytime I want in 3 seconds because of the Glidelock clasp.

My wrist is around 8".

Did you need an extra link with your new-fangled sub?

No. I actually took out the 1/2 link that comes with it.

I actually miss it when I wear my Milgauss. It is the only watch I own that doesn't have a date.

At the end of the day, we dont actually need a watch at all (Cell phones, computers etc etc) however, we all want to tell the time on our mechanical timepeices. Personally I do not need a date, hence I wear my Daytona all the time. I do appreciate that some do require the date feature though, i also believe that this is born out of habit (used to a watch with a date) and after wearing a non date watch for a while, it wouldn't bother most.

I am absolutely used to it and the few times I wear my Omega Speedmaster, I discover how much I miss it if I don't have the date function. So yes, it is indispensable. Time and date go together.

I prefer a date function but far from "needing" one. Hell, I don't even need a watch nowadays but I prefer to wear one

Well, some people (even on this forum) wear their watches only outside their homes and take them off when they come home. That is weird.

Agreed, I for one wear my watch 365/24/7, unless you change into a different watch once you get home.

And yes I do like the date feature, its handy. Although there those who don't require it, either for purist reasons or they just don't require the date functionality; kind of hard to read the date when your diving.

I like the date function and use it often. My girlfriend never sets or looks at the date on her's. It kind of drives me crazy when it off so I fix it when she's not looking.

I wore a TAG with a date throughout my twenties and moved to a 14060m now I'm in my thirties.

When I first changed I would catch myself glancing at my watch for the date but I'm out of the habit now and I don't miss it.

I use my mobile phone when I need the date. I reject the argument that if you use a phone for the date why not use it for the time as well...

I might need to check the date once or twice a week. Often, even if I need to write the date I often already have it in my head having seen it on a calendar, computer, phone or newspaper. The time, on the other hand, I need to check many times a day so it is far more convenient to have a watch than use my phone.

I don't mind having the date but I HATE the Rolex cyclops so would have to take a chisel to the crystal if I ever buy a Rolex with the date function.

Could the reason Rolex produces both dates and non dates be to satisfy all buyers?

Thanks guys, for making me feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. I've been around forums, and the watch industry for quite awhile, and would like to think that people can feel comfortable in their style/way of posting provided that it's within the rules/guidelines of the forum. I guess you've proved me wrong.

Could it possible that maybe the "date/no-date" question has been asked on the form possibly a bazillion times? In reality, it doesn't really matter if the watch has a date or no date, its subjective and up to the individual who wears the watch. Like it has been mentioned earlier we do not really need to even wear a watch especially these days with technology evolving so rapidly. And again those of us who do wear a watch because we choose to. End of story.

Who cares how many times it be posted. You don't have to answer.if the thread is something that you don't want to read, then skip it. Why all the rudeness towards the new guy?

I'm an equal opportunity employer. I have 7 with and 3 without. Ok, so not completey equal.

But I do like having it on the ones that have it, and can do without on the ones that don't have.

Oh, and I LUV the Rolex Cyclops.

I don't "need" the date on a watch, but I "want" a date on most of my watches. Its like I don't "need" a Rolex, but I "want" a Rolex.

I have both the Explorer and no date Sub so no I don't need it but when I wear them I often look at my watch and think Hey where's my date.
